I hope this is the beginning of a serious Bublik. If he wants to he could win a lot more titles because he is one of the most talented players on the tour. Happy for him!

OMG. Can you believe it!? Kept his nerve and concentration and totally outplayed Zverev in every department. Congratulations Mr. Bublik. Have a fantastic year.

Have we finally reached the point when Bublik takes the game seriously? He’s definitely built a fanbase (and some detractors) with some of his goofy antics and underhand serves, but has always had the talent to be a top-10 player. So excited for the game if this is the start of the year he puts it all together!!!!

Once the errors started to creep in Zverev was done. He worried too much about his mistakes and bad calls etc … he’s far too experienced now to still be doing this bs.

Fantastic and finally from Bublik, a tour title and what a way to do it against a top 5 player. As for Zverev, it’s looking like a repeat of 2019 where he slumped after winning the World Tour Finals in the previous year. He’s looking slower than usual and lethargic out there… and hitting so short with low power.

Bublik made 2 important discoveries this tournament:

1) When he tries hard and takes the game seriously he is a world-class contender.
2) Zverev can be lured to the net and passed on a fairly reliable basis.

Congratulations to Bublik on the breakthrough!

This makes me so happy. Bublik is another reason to watch the tour. Zverev must’ve been sick and tired of those drop shots. Game well played and thought out from Bublik.

This just shows how important it is for your game to have variety. If you look at the big 3 and how great they are from the baseline, they’re all still very comfortable at the net. They have top spin, slice and flat shots. They can drop shot and volley. Just all around games. You have to be able to move your opponent around and keep him guessing.

I’m really happy for bublik! He deserves this so much! A little surprised though as to zverevs game, since he was outstanding in the other matches.

Bublik has so much natural talents. If he has better fitness and more discipline, he could be near the top. Glad to see this win over Zverev!

Bublik seems like a lovable dude, a fun guy to be around. Hope he can go far in tournaments this year. Those dropshots are delicate! Artistic touches.

if I remember right, Zverev never won when he has to comeback or was struggle with the game, except for the match vs Djokovic in Olympic, in which Nole simply collapsed by himself. Zverev can only win when he is up and everything is favorable. He gave up so easily. If we watch Nadal, Djokovic and other true champions, sometimes everything goes against them but they will fight until the end. Zverev doesn’t have that and may be he will never be one of them. He may get some GS but I am afraid he can only win if all the best players are out for some reasons.

Just goes to show how effective excellent drop shots are in an era dominated by baseliners. Once they are out of their ‘comfort zone’ they have no answers. Well played by Bublik and the excellent strategy gave him his maiden ATP title.
