Well deserved win for Alcaraz 👏
Hope Rafa can get back to his level by the end of Rome!

Let us not forget just how Carlos contained the celebration. Total respect for the clay Master. Carlos is a class act worthy of all the accolades.

The kid was down and out with that ankle. And he wins. He WINS. Against Rafa. On clay. Total genius with a mind of steel. The future is here.

I’m a Federer fan with respect to Djokovic and Nadal and I was worried I wouldn’t like tennis when all 3 are done but Alcaraz is definitely a reason to keep following.

Alcaraz is the first true superstar I’ve been able to see from the start of his ATP career. It doesn’t matter to me if he never hits #1 or wins any grand slams although I think it’s likely he does become #1 & win many grand slams if he continues to play like this & improve even. He could still be growing for heavens’ sake. 😂💪

im just enjoying his tennis while we have it. Im not putting my expectations on him. Just let the man play

ATP and Spanish tennis history was hugely punctuated with this epic showdown. Two titans, legend v wonderkid, and no he is not a “kid” but a sensation. Happy day-after-birthday Carlos with big respect to Rafa. They are both amazing! World class tennis!

The confidence that Alcaraz has in the second set to rest his ankle ( I think ) and beat the king of clay in the 3rd is mind boggling.

As a Rafa fan, I have total respect for Carlos. These two boys both pushed it to 3 sets. Congrats to Carlos. 👏👏
Now finally, a Djokovic-Alcaraz semi’s.
This I wanna see for sure.

This boy will be a legend, I say it now and you will see in the future everything he will achieve, I am sure many things, he will be number 1, not only because of the talent he has, but because of how he knows how to handle the complicated moments that are presented to him, any young player after the fall would have collapsed, he manages to turn him around in front of one of the best in history such as rafa, this boy is golden and will go far. I followed him since before he was so recognized and I already saw very good things in him, one of my favorite players without a doubt.

You can see Nadal loves the kid he always seems a little pissed of after a lost match which is completely ok and probably one of the reasons why he arguably is the goat. But today you can see he was smiling even after a loss. Nadal is 35 and when he finishes his career Alcaraz will be still very young it would be so dope to see Nadal in Alcarazes box one day.

Absolutely historic, this is one of the most important matches in the history of tennis.

Also side note but 2:41 is such a sick shot, Federer-like. I love this versatility in Alcraraz’s game.

I mean that last point was kind of poetic, beating Rafa for the first time with the master‘s signature forehand – stunning!

This kid is the next best thing in Tennis; what a way to comeback after the 2nd set. He beats Rafa on clay; He is a good player on all surfaces. He trumps Zverev, Rublev and Tsitpitas

Alcaraz looks to be a generational talent. I’ve had my eye on him for a while but the explosive growth in his game over the last year is astounding. However, before labeling him a potential GOAT, let’s let him win his first Grand Slam!

For Nadal, this is not a total loss by any means. He got in some quality tennis, looks to have no ill effects from the rib injury and his form, while not close to his A prime game, looks good given the circumstances.

The main struggle that I can see, apart from the obvious rust, is the inability to consistently get spin and depth with the usual pace (the usual Nadal benchmark) which enables opponents to play into the court and go on offense with the short ball. Really struggled against Goffin and Alcaraz as well in this regard.

All in all, Nadal looks to be on the right trajectory and with the slower, higher bouncing courts of the Italian and French Opens ahead, he seems to be on the right track. Time will tell.

We’re watching history in the making. To beat Nadal on clay is a tall order, what a performance. The run since the US Open has been nothing short of spectacular.
