Crowd was fawning over Alcaraz the whole match but Norrie just took care of business. Cam’s consistency and maturity are so admirable, and made him the better player tonight!

I’m so glad for Coric, finally is coming back to his tennis and hope him to regain his place between the top players.

Absolutely brilliant by Norrie, he knew his ‘normal’ level was never going to be good enough and he lifted it to a level I’ve personally never seen him do. And as I’ve said before, Alkaraz…as great as he his, his tennis brain i.e. the shot selection he makes in VITAL moments, is more often than not, poor. It takes more than just hitting the skin off the ball at every opportunity you get and running around like a jack rabbit to beat top 10 players. And again, as I have said many times from the beginning, when Alkaraz has something to lose and an overly hyped reputation to live up to, those clutch moments become way…way more difficult. Especially, when you consider players and their coaches are clearly studying Alkaraz and looking for weakness, which every player has, except perhaps, Novak and Nadal.

When I watched Norrie for 1st like 3-4 years ago, I never thought He could be a top 10 player. But he has improved a lot, now it’s a consistent player.

Alcaraz’s game is phenomenal but he really needs to control his emotions and excitement a little bit better and take those chances. He was basically better player in everything today apart from the break point conversion. And it’s not the first time he couldn’t cross over the line for breaks which caused him trouble and then he made some costly errors on his own service in the third set and the match is gone. Credit to Norrie for being so solid and a real fighter, but he wouldn’t win this match if Alcaraz was more mature.

What a win for Cam. He’s so frustrating to play against. He gets everything back and forces his opponents to play another shot again and again. It’s like playing against a wall. Reminds me a little of Bjorn Borg.

Great job by Norrie, he played exceptional to beat the confident kid and the supporting crowd. The hype about Alcaraz winning a grand slam and dominating the game is cracking! There is no doubt he is good but he recently lost to Sinner, Tommy Paul and now Cam Norrie. Still flamboyant with all the bicep curls, fist pumps and box stare downs after every point he wins. But he has a ways to go before he can be considered a great! I don’t see him winning the US open this year!

А я что-то растроился в первом круге что Музетти не смог и сета выграть у Борны😄
Красавчик Борна думаю что по силам выйти в финал

Wow tennis is so unpredictable. Medvedev has recovered from the first round loss to Kyrgios a week ago to win, Tsitsipas who I haven’t heard of in a while is back to the semis of a masters, Isner is still competing at the top level and challenging top 10 players, FAA who seemed to be in good form has just lost in straight sets to a player who has just returned from injury, and Alcaraz has just lost having won so many this year, whilst Norrie has had such a good year and has kept so consistent in every way yet he is still not a top ten player?! Such a topsy-tervy sport. Gotta love it❤️‍🔥

Very happy for Norrie. Even with his ranking people seem to underestimate and undervalue him as a player.

In the last few weeks and month, Alcaraz has become a bit too erratic with his racket at times, and with his mental composure. And his drop shot execution is not as perfect, or a shock to the opponents.

Interesting times. Alcaraz and Swiatek looking a little jaded after their insane runs in the first half of the year. Coric looking like he’s never been away. In fact, he looks better. How a guy that size can serve like that is beyond me.

Isner losing a tiebreak
Coric 94% points won on 1st serve and lost only 1 point
Alcaraz blewing the match after coming back in the 2nd set, one break up in the third ends up losing and smashed a ball in the stadium out of frustration
What a day of surprises 😳

So happy for Coric, had so much potential but got massively sidetracked by injuries. If he can put together a few great years that would be amazing for him

Medvedev is playing and carrying himself like a true number 1 player. He is also classy in his celebrations and the little chat he has with ever opponent at the net. He has definitely come a long way. My prediction he wins the US open 2022!

Actually a defining match for Alcaraz. Despite winning one of the most incredible points in recent memory, Alcaraz was really off his game with respect to unforced errors while Norrie played extremely well. Yet, Alcaraz never gave up for a single second in trying to find a way to win and darn near did. Credit as well to Norrie for playing great.

Very impressed by Coric. Nadal and now Auger Alliassime, the guy is even better than he was before his injury. Good for him !
