Really interesting how the rivalries between some of these guys are developing. Felix seems to have Alcaraz’ number right now, but Casper has his and Alcaraz has Casper’s. Really interesting dynamic there
not surprising nadal has trouble on indoor hard, but ruud stepping up after a fairly rough back half of the year is good to see
Saw this coming. Good win for Fritz …since Nadal beat him at Wimbledon then gave Kyrgios a walk-over, Fritz’s rage doubled, fortunately its an indoor atp event with Nadal constantly performing less than expected
Taylor has come so far in his game, but even more so in his mentality. Love to see players mature. (Not to be mean, but really hoping we can see the same from Tsitsipas next year.)
Rooting for ruud glad he won. Casper is a brilliant player.
People underestimated Ruud because of FAA recent form. Nadal vs Fritz result was not a surprise.
Ruud currently has Felix’s number big time. Fritz is not a good match up for nadal on fast courts. Especially considering Nadal’s current form.

The court for hard hitting players esp Fritz. Ruud managed to absorbed all the onslaught from FAA with first good experience that this tournament is best for the best !
Rafa has become quite readable being on tour for so many years. The fitness and skills are still all there but in todays game, a little difference makes that difference. Never fails to entertain. Always a Rafa fan!
Fritz getting revenge for that Wimbledon encounter. Imagine his disappointment when Nadal withdrew from the semi after that clash

The Nadal forehand still seems to be there, but the backhand is lacking power. That’s why his opponents are able to exploit it because they can take it closer to the net and make an offensive swing.
Just imagine how good Ruud would be if his backhand was just a little more aggressive…
When Nadal is stretched on his forehand side, his return shot will almost always be down-the-line

Very satisfying seeing Casper Ruud shut everyone up winning on hard court after plenty of unfair criticism.. Yeah, he is currently a 250 specialist but he is still only 23 years of age. Not everyone is a freak like Nadal when they are winning tropies as teens.
Beating a red hot FAA in a big tournament would no doubt give him greater confidence moving forward. Plenty of upside thats for sure.
FAA was in for a Ruud awakening, while Nadal’s game was on the Fritz.

It seemed as though the crowd did not give Fritz his due after beating the “Lion In Winter”.
Ruud is honestly a very dangerous player. No visibly sharp weapons, but from this highlight reel you can see he’s really solid defensively; almost Nadal/Djokovic-like.
