You wouldn’t call me the biggest Fritz fan in the world, but I am impressed with how much he has improved his physical and mental game this season. Looking forward to more of both these players in 2023!

Dang that fritz-ruud match must’ve been intense. A 3rd set tie break to finish. Way to fight back from fritz & to force a 3rd set, but to push ruud that much is tough. Both fritz & ruud are very strong mentally so they will be better for that match.

Fritz needs to recover quickly from a physical standpoint if he wants to beat an ever-improving auger-alliasime…

I just hope that the match is good. I like both fritz & FAA

After the Wimbledon tournament, Nadal’s service did not inspire confidence. At this level, it is already impossible to do business with this service in a closed roof hard floor tournament. This year has been very good for Nadal, the last part can be said to be bad, but let’s say the effect of the injury. He will need to change his serve for the new season and make a stronger serve. I have absolutely no doubt that Nadal will work hard and fight. We already know that he will not play until he is 50 years old, and I want him to spend those years in a glorious way, with the last 2 or 3 years of his career left.

the lack of match play is showing in Nadal’s two matches so far. many times in the past he has asked that the surface for the final tournament of the ATP be rotated among the three or four surfaces. that the ATP Finals are always on indoor hard has always prevented him from winning it altogether, particularly as it comes at the end of the year. it is not that he can’t win on indoor hard; he has won on this type already. it is the toil on legs and feet that makes him vulnerable, particularly at this age.

Not a rafa fan but hard to see him as the groups whipping boy, any other tournament he’d be out after 1 loss but 2 losses in and he still needs to play top of the group

The sad truth for Nadal is that his high topspin forehand and backhand are just floating in the air with no pace. He’s playing really defensively and can’t get anything off these hard courts.

Nadal just has a terrible indoor hard court record. He has only won two titles on indoor hard court and that to a long time ago. There’s a lot of pressure for him to make that 4 match losing streak first one since 2009 but some of it just has to do with his experience with fast courts.

So happy for Ruud, I thought he was the weakest link in that group. Man, did he prove me wrong. I still think Nadal beat him in the next round. though.
