Full credit to both players. Even though Quentin Halys lost in straight sets he challenged djokovic all the way in that match and if he can produce performances like this on a regular basis, I reckon he can have a breakthrough year.
Halys in wonderland. Stretched Djokovic like a top 10 pro. Almost like a mirror image for Djokovic as a opponent.
I am an Aussie, but I personally really admire Novak Djokovic. I felt that the way that Australia has handled the entire situation with Djokovic last year was just disgusting and downright cruel. I just hope that Djokovic (may have been others as well) never get this type of treatment ever again.

It always humors me how NON highlight worthy Djokovics’ games are considering he’s the best tennis player to ever live. Highlight reels live by unusual and astounding “sparks” on the tennis court. Extremely hard shots, tricky shots, behind the back and other unusual things. But Djoker is just so consistent at being the better tennis player with every stroke that there is never no need for him to do anything except… perfect textbook tennis.
Novaks slice is more of a chop now,aggressive and penetrating. He has put a lot of work into it in the off-season seems like.
Halys is gonna have a breakthrough year, well played but nole is nole.

This was Novak’s second match in a ATP tour after a hiatus and it is obvious that his game was a little bit rusty due to lack of match practice. But it was a real test and Novak, true to his glorious reputation, lifted his game when needed and secured the win. Things can only get better from now on.
Djokovic has always been just SLIGHTLY better than nadal everywhere except clay, but lately djokovic makes nadal look like a little bug, if you compare their level of tennis

Can someone please explain why Novak gets lots of hate? I mean I understand he’s dominant, unbeatable, and boring or whatever. But even Federer in his prime was unstoppable, yet didn’t get much hate.

Really good stuff from Halys. Lets hope he can improve and bring some joy to the French given some of their old guard have retired recently. Really good hands at the net with volleys u usually only see from doubles specialists these days. That sidespin dropshot volley was chef’s kiss. Also nice how well in front he hits his groundstrokes.

Halys was like a surprise package. Did not expect him to be this good. He played like a top player. Perfect match for Novak before Shapovalov and Medvedev, which pushed him to the limits to deliver the best. Great tensed match to watch. Novak is a champion and goat!

Man Djokovic’s mental strength put on display again. Time and time again his opponent served for the set or match, and can’t close it out. Not sure if it’s due to pressure or what, but just so clutch from Novak
