So happy with the results. Vika played wonderful and was able to win against a tennis rising star. This is very inspiring and motivating. I really admire her talent and her mental strength
A 33 year old mom dispatches Paula Badosa, Madison Keys, Coco Gauff, Anhelina Kalinina and Qinwen Zheng in the past two months is quite impressive. You are an inspiration to many Vika, my Hats off to you!!!
Experience is still king. Zheng was the faster and more aggressive player. But Victoria played smarter tennis and sent Zheng packing early. Zheng shouldn’t feel discouraged getting your butt kicked by a more experienced players is part of the game.
Zheng’s shot choices seem to go towards the opponent instead away from them, e.g., two shots when Azarenka is at the net she returned right to her instead of lobbing, and a cross court shot when Zheng’s at the net instead of to the open space down the line. Maybe those choices would be harder but they are also harder for the opponent to return.
Zheng is the star kid here. She’s v ambitious and energetic and i love her play style. With a few tweaks she will be formidable.
Nice match! Vika played much smart and stable. Qinwen won some cool points, but still a lot to learn from these top players.
Qinwen is a great talent. She has all the shots and keeps improving all the time. Very soon top ten and more !
