Against any other opponent, Roberto may have won. He literally played lights out tennis for the first two sets but Novak made sure to control the match from start to finish. Third set was to be expected, having gave his all. Incredible match.

The one time I was fortunate to see Novak play live was during these two’s first encounter four years ago back in New York. How time has flown, yet Novak looked much better in this match.

This was the Djokovic I grew up with. Winning with an unshakable grip on the match. Not the Djokovic that gifts sets away to his opponent. Hope he continues like this.

I am a big fan of Novak Djokovic
since his first A.O. Grand Slam title in 2008. Later that same year, while visiting Shanghai, coincidentally the year-end Master Cup was being played there. So, I did my best to get a ticket and watch in person Djokovic beat Davidenko. Since then it’s been an incredible journey for Djokovic. I was deeply dismayed with what some bigots did to him in Australia last year and my admiration for his personality grew stronger I hope he’ll get another title here and eventually become the all time record holder of the most Grand Slam titles in history.

That rally at 00:56 is simply outrageous. That’s usually the type of rallies you will see when it’s Nadal Vs Djokovic or Nadal Vs Federer. Simply beautiful. Great win Nole.

That was an indomitable performance from Nole. A very very high class of continuous hammering of a tennis ball. So good to watch.

He looked great. The score does not indicate how hard RCB was hitting the ball and the level Novak played. With hamstring concerns, I thought his speed was great and even his explosiveness chasing down drop shots. Novak is a master at keeping his opponents on a string. Side to side, drop shots, lobs. Its pure genius.

There is one shot in this match that may have been overlooked. 3-3 in the 2nd set where Novak is just torturing this kid pushing him everywhere and finally, he deploys a lethal dropper that RCB gets back very short in the server box but Novak was able to hit a laser cross court backhand for a winner.

Contrast that with Berrettini’s blown match point in the same area but Berrettini’s ball was on the server line whereas Novak’s shot was maybe 3 feet from the net and he still managed to whip it over the net with pace for a winner. That is unbelievably difficult with such little room to work with!

First he takes your body. Then with pacience he takes your soul and last bit of energy. Even if you get lucky enough and win, you will loose the next round since you’re empty inside with nothing else to give

I saw Baena live , play against Cilic in Pune Open, India . The way he played was unreal. He took the second set. I really enjoyed watching him. And he is a fabulous player. Hope to see more of Baena ❤

Novak is injured, yet he gives this sort of performance? Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying the GOAT. Imagine the level he will be at after he’s better.

My god that forehand, is it just me or were some of Novak’s serve +forehand combos Federer-like last night. Man was hitting bombs from the right hand side all night long, if he keeps this kind of form going, it’d really take an inspiring effort from Medvedev or Nadal to even have a chance against him

Nole’s timing is near perfection. He is hitting the ball exactly at raquet center, cleanly and solid at the precise time. Super fit and a net game that keeps improving, outstanding as it is already. Def a contender to the title..

shame to see no credit for Baena. played a brilliant match and had break points in both sets that couldve made the match interesting. Third set showed djokovic had other gears to go to but this wasnt as easy as people thing it was for nole, he was getting really pissed off throughout that second set because Baena was going toe to toe with nole in the rallies and was serving the best he ever had tbh

No último set, eu acho que Djokovic pensou: “Eita, preciso ir dormir. Está tarde. Vou ligar o modo TURBO aqui”. Resultado: 6-0
