You guys should watch the post-game interview with Daniil (which for some reason is not on this channel)… He’s very clear headed about why he felt he lost. One of his best quotes in the interview is “the reason tennis is so tough today is because in the top 30, anybody can beat anybody”… The AO has really proven this. I honestly didn’t think Korda could take Daniil. I knew it would be close because Korda scored a set off Djokovic in Adelaide, but I didn’t think he would pull it off (especially after Daniil came back from 4-1 in the first set)

As both a Korda and Medvedev fan, this was a match I was looking forward to. I thought Medvedev could win, but big props to Korda.
He’s great at the net, his shots are very clean and have bite, just very smooth and clean. He’s proven he can go toe to toe with the top players as well. Really great athlete, and has improved a lot in the last year. Honestly reminds me of a certain man named Roger Federer, minus the one hand backhand tho haha. Looking forward to the rest of the tournament.

Ever since I saw Korda played for the first time I knew he will be world class champion with his cool mindset and never tried to over stressing his body, instead just kept on working on his fluid groundstrokes. Well done!

Note to Self

I’ve always seen his potential but these past few months have been coming together for him. So proud because he’s one of my favs!

This is the win Korda needed to bolster his confidence that he can take on the best in the world. The tourney is becoming much more wide open with these upsets.

I'm Always Right

Korda’s intensity and focus on the court is a mood. He looks switched on and ready for a big year.

Korda is simply phenomenal today. Hope he will continue this. Btw his father Petr korda was 1998 Aus open champion and his mother was also a good tennis player.

Korda did something tonight most players forget or don’t have in their arsenal… the top spin lob. I’m always looking out for it and Korda used it against a tall guy as well.
Hope the others take note, because it works beautifully when executed and beats opponents on many occasion

Korda evoluindo MUITOOOOO
eu torço demais pelo Daniil, porém eu não consigo visualizar ele vencendo novamente um slam. A próxima geração com Sinner e Alcaraz vem mais preparada que o Russo.

Korda had a few hiccups here and there but he executed his game plan really well against Med for the most part. Well deserved win

I don’t know why Medvedev was the second favorite in this year AO. If you had watched Korda’s performance in the match against Nole, then you would find that Korda is stronger than Medvedev. Also, there are some strong players, including Hubi, Sinner FAA and Tips in the upper half so it is strange that Medvedev was the second favorite in this year AO.

Seriously the use of the backhand slice was just brilliant. As well as that serve 😭. Well Played Korda

Korda certainly has potential to be a top 5 player. I am very impressed by his brilliant shot making, finding acute angles and changing the pace of ball. The weak link in his game are his serve and inconsistency, which if overcomed can make him a great player. Today he outrallied Medvedev which not many can do. Now he has good chances of beating Hurcaz if he can maintain this high level.

Korda was resilient! He was physically intensifying his game stronger than ever, a new level of his play.

Korda looked more federeresk in this match than anyone I’d ever seen. His crazy footwork, the cool temperament, and the variation of shot with an all court type play. He’s so fun to watch.

Medvedev’s a great baseliner but lacks unique skill to put away opponents quickly. Letting Korda just hang in there was a bad idea.

Korda had been showing potential for a while but it seems like he’s finally having a real breakthrough.

One of Medvedev’s greatest strengths is his reach/wing-span/coverage… a strength that is completely nullified when Korda keeps circumventing the perks of those long limbs and keeps putting the ball back at his FEET. He really seemed to deflate much of Danii’s power in this match with that tactic. Danil likes to start preparing for his strike about three or four steps away. And he can’t do that when the ball is returned so close to him, effectively stubbing him up half the time.
