I won’t lie, even though I’m happy for Thiem, I feel bad for Kyle. From making the semis in the Aus Open 2018 to not being able to get a win on the ATP tour, sport is tough.

One thing noone can take from Thiem, he was the only person to actually challenge the big 3 from 2018-20 and the only one to consistently challenge Rafa on clay – even more so than Djoko. Just delighted to see him compete again. go Thiem.
Domi is playing so much better than the start of 2023, if he keeps playing like this, he could reach top 60 by the end of the year.
So satisfying seeing Thiem in form! Hope he can consolidate the win by a deep run here. That would boost his confidence greatly.

You could see it coming. I’ve been following him closely since the red clay swing in Latin America. He had to put up with many tough losses, but you can see he has been working and persevering. Really happy to see him winning and playing like this again!

You saw thiem playing here and the first thing you recall is the final he played here vs Rafa in 2017. He lost in straight sets but the ball striking was surreal. So much power on display that evening in Madrid

For anyone who doesn’t know, Edmund has been through similar injury and confidence problems as Thiem. He had potential to be a consistent top 15 or even top 10 player, made an AO semifinal, but just hasn’t been able to get the comeback going. Couldn’t tell who I wanted to win here, both deserve to get back to where they were on tour before. Good for Thiem
