the court dynamic changes a little bit when alcaraz doesn’t have that extra time because of a smaller backdrop. small hints of how to better play him when he’s forced to go toe-to-toe when both players are on top of the baseline.

Alcaraz has this “wah-ehh” grunt, with the ball contact in the middle between the two syllables. It prominent here, but less so in matches; I’ve always thought it’s a bit of a giveaway that he’s NOT going for the drop shot, and I imagine he knows that too.
