Huge respect to Struff for reaching his first Masters final at age 33! And also breaking his CH in the process

VERSA TENNIS CLIPS

Really proud of Struff what a performance! Over 50 times to the net was clearly the right approach to face Carlitos and break his rhythm. Really small things and outcome could have been a win for Struff. Way to go Struff!

Struff gave everything, played amazing. So happy for carlitos for successfully defending his title. Very important for him before going to French open.

I just love the context: The biggest star of tennis and huge favourite in the Spain masters tournament final in front of his home crowd face an ‘old’ lucky loser german and huge underdog with no titles to his name, and it turn out to be the most exiting match of the year. Really entertaining and mad respect for Struff who fought his heart out and showed a great attitude from the first point to the last.

A great match, indeed. Struff played amazing and should feel very proud. i think a lot of players can learn from this match. Feels like Struff exposed every weakness Alcaraz possibly had. Just having to execute the strategy consistently is the hard part. Also, I think Alcaraz, as long as he plays at least one match in Rome he is number 1 after Rome ends, even if Djokovic defends the title.

If Struff can keep this level he might go deep into Wimbledon. That was some amazing volleying.

Struff played courageously. Doing serve and volley on clay while playing against Carlos takes some serious balls. Hopefully Struff becomes the next late-bloomer star on the tour and we see him contend for more titles. As always Carlos’s variety and fighting spirit brought him over the edge

Congratulations to Struff on an unreal tournament and to Alcaraz for his 10th ATP title and 5th big title.

Big congrats to Carlitos for defending his Madrid title and his first tournament as a 20 year old! And also congrats to Struff who showed what level he can play at and took the opportunity with both hands at this tournament. I hope he can keep this level for grass court season as he should be even more effective there and would be a dangerous player to watch out for at Wimbledon.

Huge respect for this champion.Hard work tells and although Struff was dominating 2nd set with aggressive returns and tactically being ahead of Alcaraz but Alcaraz was quick enough to figure that out and that is the difference between Good and Greats.Greats always suss the opponent out and then win it when it matters with an ace up their sleeves.Clearly Alcaraz showed it to Struff he can be a good player but to be a Great like him he needed an extra gear and better tactical acumen which he lacked in the end.

Some of the best serve volley on clay from Struff. He could have beaten anyone else today, in best of 3, had he not met Alcaraz

Bravo Alcaraz, paso lo de siempre, hay muchos jugadores que le pegan bien a la pelota, pero no pueden mantener un alto nivel de tenis durante todo un partido.

Struff wasnt even a volleyer when he showed up on tour. He only added the serve and volley relatively late into his career…and now look at him. Amazing net coverage. Amazing feel. Very impressive.

Struff made that match a learning experience for Alcaraz. He’ll be better prepared for the next guy who attacks his game like that.
Hats off to both
