Well the first set was so intensely fought as Etcheverry was playing at a very very high level and so was Novak but then the momentum was totally grabbed by Novak in 2nd set……One thing I want to mention is Novak had a few drop shots not crossing the net so needs to work on that a bit although they have always been a mixed bag…..No one plays better drop shots than Alcaraz
Djokovic was looking aggressive from point 1 … Hitting drop shots, those powerful forehand winners and that deadly backhand…. Nole is coming back to his shape at the right time before Roland Garros
Mental breakthrough match for Dmitrov. He went for more bh topspins over slicing which he tends to do when nervous.
That was a close first set for Djokovic, not sure if he’s struggling for form at present
Popyrin looks like a natural in clay…From shot selection, to movement & understanding of the conditions. Come on! This guy has something!

good match from etcheverry today. his lack of variety is what did him in but he was very impressive especially in big moments. novak onto the next
Stan and Dimi is like watching two Federer’s play against each other!
Great results except for FAA early exit. Next round will be more exciting to watch. Djoko is in great form, Sinner is on fire, Rune is doing great also. Waiting for Alcaraz and Medvedev’s first matches. This tournament is getting more exciting!
For those who are asking about why there was barely anybody at Sinner’s match in his home country, tournament directors were “wise enough” to schedule Italy’s number 1 at 11 a.m. on a Friday morning with ticket prices for Center court starting at 90 Euros. So that’s basically why lol.
Some very interesting upsets that didn’t make it into this video, definitely helping the seeded players. Next round, Norrie gets Fucsovics instead of de Manure, Rune gets tempermental Fognini instead of Kecmanovic, Ruud gets wild wacky Bublik instead of Shelton, and Sinner gets Shevchenko instead of Baez. Add in always-dangerous players like Khachanov and Paul getting knocked out, along with FAA and Korda, and this half of the draw is really shaping up to run as expected in the later rounds. Also totally plays into Djokovic’s hands given his career dominance over his likely path to the finals (10-1 vs Dimitrov with the one loss in 2013, 2-0 vs Norrie, 4-0 vs Ruud, and 2-0 vs Sinner); only Rune has a win over him in the last 10 years.

Sinner played really well and he has his home crowd for support. Novak started slow but did play well eventually. I think he will go far.
Etcheverry’s movement on clay is crazy. but its amazing to see novak’s forehand becoming more powerful
