I wanted a three setter but I am glad for Medvedev. His progress on clay is so impressive, well deserved trophy. Now let’s see what both of these guys can do in Paris.

From “I don’t want to play here on this surface😒” to champion. Very entertaining and high level final.
With Medvedev also in the mix, this French Open is going to be the most open ever.

From “I don’t want to play here on this sssurface” to winning a masters title, Medvedev has come a long way 🔥👑

He’s the same guy who once asked a match referee to default him since he didn’t want to play on Clay.
Well done, Daniil. You’ve really come a long way on clay.

First time to see one man defeated opponents in semis and final twice 7:5, 7:5 – at this level)

А по факту: Даня – гений земли русской! Болеем за тебя и наших остальных ребят и девушек! Пусть кто-то вам и не жмет руки.

Medvedev, what a player! Lesson in perseverance, consistency and mental fortitude from the affable Russian. Just wore down Rune.

My man is operating in binary system. He either bows out of Rome Masters without winning a single match or wins the entire thing! Absolute mad lad 😅

I´ve watched all Medvedev´s matches this claycourt season. The guy is simply a wall. The confidence at returning is mesmerizing, and from a viewer standpoint, it is always appreciated how fast he serves. Congrats to the mastermind at the box, Gilles Servara, who is always silently analyzing every game, making notes for future match-ups. Losing last march against Rune was key to today´s triumph, no doubt. It will be very interesting to watch how this team will strategize against Alcaraz in the near future.

The Great Wall of Medvedev, successfully defends the barrage of Canon balls from Holgers racket. Defense triumphed attack today.

Congrats to Medvedev for winning his first clay title and doing it in impressive fashion. Beating Zverev, Tsitsipas and Rune to win is no joke and should be applauded. The Russian has proved me and many others wrong in his ability to adapt to the red sand. With Nadal out, Djokovic dealing with injury and form and Alcaraz losing Rome early, this has got to be the most wide open Roland Garros ever. Dare I say Medvedev is now the second favorite behind Alcaraz?

Medvedev just beat tsitsipas and rune on clay back to back who are in great form…I think its time we consider medvedev a big threat for the french open

Medvedev is the man. Love the fact that other players hit harder than him but he wins by wearing opponents down, outsmarting opponents, and getting almost everything back. So difficult to beat this guy.

Edit: and a deceptively great serve.

I’m a huge fan of Rune. Going into the semis, I thought for sure Rune would beat Tsitispas in the final. I figured Medvedev beating Zverev was an issue with Zverev’s still-going quest to regain form post-injury. His victory against Stefanos was what made me finally realize that Meddy has indeed figured out the clay.
I was far more scared for Rune when I saw Medvedev was his opponent than if it were Tsitsipas as I expected. Rune had beaten Stefanos at RG last year, but now all of a sudden comes Medvedev, a phenomenal player who out of nowhere had found form on clay. It seems the Great Wall of Medvedev was too much for even Rune’s otherwise overwhelmingly aggressive playstyle. Rune’s net game also dipped noticeably today and his anticipation let him down as well.
Huge congrats to Daniil, it’s great to see him finally accustom to the clay. All of a sudden he’s gotta be among the top 5 favorites heading into Roland Garros. At the start of the clay season, I said Rune would take the clay Slam. He still very well could, but it’ll be tricky.
Medvedev is magically good on clay now. Stefanos seems to be in amazing form. Alcaraz is Alcaraz, and will have had more rest than the others. Djokovic can never be counted out. Rublev is amazing on clay and has a new Monte Carlo trophy to add to it. I’m really excited for this year’s FO – there are so many candidates for the title. I think other candidates for deep runs (but probably not the trophy) could be Fritz, ADF, Coric, Zverev, Ruud, and Sinner.

Medvedev is one of few players who have understood what tactic is most efficient in tennis. I’m proud to use it myself, on a recreational level in my case.

It will be interesting to see Alcaraz vs. Medvedev on clay right now.

Medvedev was complaining that the IW surface was playing like clay, after his beat down in the finals. But yet he played like a clay expert today.

Absolute lesson for everyone! If you’re bad at something you try harder until you champion it. That’s the Medvedev and clay court story. That’s a story for all of us.

5 titles in 5 months for Medvedev. I feel like this year is going to be outstanding for Medvedev. That mental coach is really helping.

Isn’t crazy to fathom that Medvedev has won more clay masters than Dominic Thiem? When all is said and done, Medvedev will likely go down as the better clay court player. Let that sink in.
