I think what might have helped cause Medvedev’s defeat was his cross-court backhand: he frequently played it too safe, compared to Wawrinka, who frequently was more aggressive on that shot and broke open the points by pulling Medvedev wide.

how good was the Wawrinka forehand today man . His willingness to cut down the angle and flatten out his shots especially the forehand paid dividence. He won the court positioning and his willingness to stay on Top and take big cuts on the ball made the difference. Too much firepower to handle for Medvedev.
i think stan finally got his last piece of puzzle. the winner capable forehand. this could be the top three year for him.
