テニス!

Ball kids are back in the limelight after a doubles pairing was disqualified at the French Open for accidentally striking a ball girl with a ball, bringing her to tears. But is this just an elaborate ruse for the spotlight?

I’m so glad that Alex Corretja explained the situation! I feel so bad for the players that were disqualified. This is so traumatic because it’s going to be very hard for them to play with any ball boys/girls about to collapse on the court if the ball so much as grazes them or they get hit by the fuzz on the ball traveling through the air aka a fuzz attack.

I saw it yesterday and I still can’t believe my eyes. Roland Garros used to be a prestigious sporting event.

My friend has a son who turned one year old a couple months back. He’s taken harder hits than this and not shed a tear.

So judge issued warning?
Other 2 tennis players than lobbied for the disqualification and got it overturned…
Wow. Shameful

This is how sports shouldn’t be and in this case i blame both the umpire & Tormo and Bouzkova.
Miyu-san didn’t hit the girl on purpose nor was she acting in anger or hitting the ball full strength.

And the girl… i dunno. Maybe she did overreact, yes. But then again everybody else has a different pain tolerance and she was under a lot of stress.
I’m not defending her per se. Sometimes people just can’t control their emotions is all i’m saying.

But yeah, the umpire should’ve just given a warning and then go on with the match.

Remember the girl hit in the head by Nadal at 10x the velocity and took it like a champ? I don’t think this girl was really hurt. It was just emotional.

1:20 exactly how I felt about today’s professional tennis and especially this nothing burger incident turned to DQ.

Disgraceful!! The ball girl saw the ball coming but stood rooted to the ground. She wasn’t injured either. And the two losers pressuring the umpire….🤬

As funny as this is, the two women had their hard work and effort literally wasted due to this ridiculous ruling.

This is ridiculous, and inspired by the Law of Precedent. Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open in 2020 (I think it was that year), but then the way he hot the ball was uncalled for, he wasn’t returning the ball to the other side.

Ball girl and Refree both are nominated in Oscar for best actors😅😂. A tennis ball should not be thrown it should be handover to her

My God!! Such faint hearted people shud stay indoors forget about being ball kids. I took tennis lessons since I was 12 and we were often made ballboys when seniors played and this was a daily occurrence. Others used to laugh at us in such situations and it is a shocker to see this being exploited by the opponents. Shame on organisers😡

Kids are kids and at times pretty unaware of their surroundings…then there are some that are the “look at me I’m great aren’t I”…kids have tunnel vision too….that’s just about covers it….sometimes.

This girl is in for some major disappointment in life if a soft lob to her shoulder by a TENNIS ball causes this much crying.

The ball girl acted like she was emotionally instable, she had no reason to cry, should not be allowed to be ball girl again.

If you play tennis at all you understand perfectly that the ball was not struck with any pace whatsoever and it could not and did not cause any injury. On that basis, the chair correctly determined (initially) to simply issue a warning—in my opinion even that wasn’t necessary but at least it’s not an unreasonable decision.

The ball girl inexplicably was crying and clutching her chest. That was truly ridiculous. The ball had no pace and it grazed her behind the left shoulder. All I can imagine is that this child really needed to be the center of attention on this day. Unfortunately it came at a great cost to the players and spectators.

The opponents played a shameful role as well. After the chair’s initial call, they lobbied for a default.

In all my years of loving tennis I struggle to remember an episode so ill advised, so shameful, and so embarrassing to the sport as a whole.

As a Japanese, I will never forgive this referee or the opposing player. The ridiculous culture of ball girls and ball boys is also insane. Please use professionals.

The girl saw the ball coming and protected herself by turning her back but later she appears crying with her hand on her chest, looking like it hit her at that point. I thought the reaction was a little exaggerated. And to some extent feigned. He shouldn’t have been disqualified, he should have just taken a warning. Very different from Shapovalov’s case!

What a farce! Bad enough to get disqualified, but to get no money for any of their matches is criminal!! They ought to take the ITF to court! The other two gals should be ashamed! That’s not a victory… that’s theft and laziness.

This definitely needs to be a rule change. They should review the footage and make a decision accordingly.

Disgusting excuse for opponents and officials. She didn’t mean it and it wasn’t even hit that hard.

Well, there are alot of arguments going on but one thing I am sure is that, only Bouzkova and Tormo are with obvious bad intention among all people involved in this incident.

It’s a sad and fragile world these days. Someone that emotional should not be there incase a ball hits them
