Alcaraz was extremely impressive today. I did not start seeing the match until the beginning of set 2, so I obviously missed his “bad” set, but he often takes a little while to get used to handling very powerful serves, and from what I hear, Berrettini played at an insanely good level in set 1, and still only broke once. But from there on, the only weakness was his extremely low first serve accuracy. He overcame it today with super 2nd serves, but he cannot beat Novak with a sub-45% first serve rate. However, he is getting more and more free points on his first serve, something he never used to get, and every other aspect of his game was sensational., which is really impressive given how little he’s played on grass, and how strong Berrettini is on this surface.

Steep learning curve for Alcaraz on grass. So far, so good.
After seeing Matteo win his previous matches relatively easily, I thought he would have won today. Alcaraz completely blew me away, he is something else. He is playing the best he has ever played on grass and I would dare to say he is playing his best tennis of the year so far. Unreal
Congratulations to both players, it was a very nice match. Carlos was more consistent and physically stronger, Matteo not at his peak but good. It seems that besides Nole, players going often to the net (Jarry, Berrettini) are the ones giving the biggest challenges to Alcaraz.

Alcaraz can really manufacture points out of nowhere…he pounces on even the slightest of opportunities which is what makes him a worthy world no.1…i love his attitude and his lively playing style…hes definitely on course to become one of the greats of the sport🤘
