Heartwarming for Thiem, particularly because the tournament is in his home country. The unspeakable joy and relief that washes over his face at the end of the match is touching.
Although I hope he can emerge triumphant in the final tomorrow, regardless of the eventual result, I hope that this deep run signifies a return, even if it’s small and fleeting, for Thiem’s form and prowess. Though he has certainly had a very rough time returning back to form, every time one watches Thiem’s previous peak tennis, he or she is reminded of the truly remarkable and relentless tennis that dominated the scene for a not insignificant duration of time. To see that same tennis once more, there is an ineffable hope that permeates the atmosphere when I watch him now, attentively watching for glimpses and hints of that previous greatness, so that once more the tennis firmament can be blessed by the magic and wonder of tennis in its purest form.
I really hope Thiem can win the title. It would be a huge confidence boost for him.
Honestly the two most entertaining and highest quality matches since Wimbledon Djokovic vs Alcaraz. All 4 semi finalists here played all out slug fests with high tactical and technical quality. Won’t be surprised if Baez takes this. However, Thiem has made a major breakthrough here in reaching the finals, and getting there against Laslo Djere, who has been playing incredibly well recently. Either Thiem makes another breakthrough in the final, or Baez wins the title deservedly, because he can beat Thiem at Thiem’s winning level against Djere.
Come on Dom, you can do this, win this final and get back on the road to the top

Domi! That entire match was a championship performance by Thiem! Wow, he was so clutch at 4-3, being down three break points! I couldn’t watch the last few moments of the third-set tiebreak. I raised my arms in delight when I saw the score 😀! I wish him the best in the final. Also congrats to Baez reaching the final.
i watched Thiem vs Djere live, it was so much more intense than a higlight video, i swear. i could sometimes not really watch it, one of the most exciting matches 2023 as a Thiem fan!
This gives me hope that Thiem can get to that peak level again.
