Can’t help rooting for Murray. His grit is something else
Feel so bad for FAA. Less than a year ago he was practically unstoppable, and now his only win since March was over a player outside the top 200 and he’s turning into a weekly “biggest win of his career” victim to every low-ranked player he faces… I mean seriously, consecutive losses to Fils (when he was still outside the top 100), Fognini, Mmoh, Watanuki, and Purcell, hardly a murderer’s row there. Only good news: his ranking points are safe until October, so he’ll avoid having to play seeded players in the first round until then.

Hopefully Murray can go far and get seeded for the US Open. He deserves the seed more than a lot of the players in the top 32 right now.

Pretty solid from Casper, still finding his form on hard courts though. Feel bad for FAA… hope he comes back stronger! On that note, Zverev is back to (or at least very near) his top ten level again! And finally, great win for Murray and great sportsmanship from Sonego as usual.
Feel bad for Griekspoor, very unfortunate draw for the first round against Zverev on a mission (he’ll be back in top 10 in no time). He could’ve beat several other players that made it to the second round.

Masters 1000’s have the highest collection of talent playing. It’s why you’ll see brutal 1st round matchups that you wouldn’t at any other tournaments. Top players rarely skip 1000’s, and it doesn’t have the same level of riff raff that the slams do due to their inflated entry size. It’s basically always the top 40 with some mid tier guys that get in with wild cards and qualifying and maybe 5-10 relative randos. Almost every matchup is a good one on paper.

I simply cannot believe Andy is running around with metal body parts, and competing against professional players who are much younger than him, and he’s doing it AT THIS LEVEL! This should NOT be possible. Well done Andy. A defensive masterclass.

Max Purcell’s been having a great run, Wimbledon title and now this huge upset. His playstyle may not fit the current dominant baseliner style, but it’s fun to watch and exciting when it pans out.
Even though Murray looks like he’s making a meal of every match at the minute atleast he’s getting back the hunger for tennis and showing some tremendous form as of late 🔥🔥🔥
Felix seems to be in such an odd slump. He’s typically such an explosive and dangerous player. I’m hoping he can come out of this slump sharper! This is the same guy that took Rafa to 5 at Roland Garros!
