I’m a fan of this rivalry! Sometimes you just have another player who gets under your skin and pushes you! Paul is that guy for Alcaraz.
What a pleasure to see an all-court, fearless, shotmaking American player, filled with the joy of the game. Huge fan. Would not root against Alcaraz for any one else, but this guy has really won me over.

I think Paul is improving quite a bit with each match vs Alcaraz. It’s a great rivalry in the making.
Wow what a game. What I love about this is how ironically Paul has brought Alcaraz back from a bit of a lay-over since Wimbledon to great form. It’s like he needed it before the US open. And how good Paul is potentially. Im sure the 3 Goats had players who really got under their skin too.

Carlos showed his tenacity in the first set by winning it after being down 2-5! Tommy showed his toughness in the second set by winning the tiebreaker at love.
In the end it was too much Carlos with his deadly drop shots.
We knew Carlos was the real deal and the true heir to the Big 3.
Now, in the last two tournaments, Tommy has shown that he belongs in the Top 10.

Dear lord, this match had all the drama: rain delay, break of serve in the first for Paul. I thought, ok, this is another of these matches that Carlos lost it completely. I heard the coach telling him in Spanish: “Came on, move the legs. Watch out for him coming to the net, play in the present, forget the last point”. How smart is Ferrero!.
Interesting fact, Carlos’s break point conversion rate virtually doubled each set. From 14% in set one to 25% in set 2 to 50% in set 4. Even though he had 3 weeks fewer practice than other players due to Hopman + Davis cup, he is now peaking right in the nick of time!

Some victories are more important than others. I feel like this is one of these for Alcaraz. Paul plays a great tennis with power and high balls pushing you away from the court. Alcaraz still managed to win. Impressive. 💪
I have been watching tennis for over 35 years and this is some of the most exciting tennis I’ve watched! These guys leave me in awe as their shot-making, variety, athleticism, and overall level of play have that wow factor to it! Great match from both players!
