Alcaraz’s ability to overcome adversity, since his last four games have been atrociously hard to close, may be his most significant learning from Cincinnati, even if he loses to Djokovic or Zverev in the final.
To be honest, everyone seems to be playing their best against Carlos. He definitely has a target on his back but he is winning and doing so with great poise. I hope he beats Novak in the final.
His mentality and IQ is what is carrying him right now. He’s struggling a lot. He’ll get better though. He always does. Slowly getting used to hard court again. Vamos Carlitos!!!
Not at his best and still made it to the finals. But need to play at highest level to beat Novak.
We have to feel for hurkacz having lost the match with match point in hand, but man what a player this alcaraz is , the shots he played are literally out of the world , he has the grace and class of federer and the heart of nadal , what a fighter.
I was really rooting for Hubi, was playing so well. But screwed up the TB. Losing 5 TBs in a row to Alcaraz gotta hurt.
Still solid performance and I hope he ll go deep in NYC.
And of course impressive mental fortitude from Carlos, he is gotta be the best teenager since Wilander.
Alcaraz hasn’t been in his best dominant form, but somehow he still manages to save match points and win in crucial moments. Just goes to show his insane mental strength

Alcaraz at barely 20 is already showing the mental toughness for “winning ugly” when only at his C level as the Big 3 did. The way he came back after defending match point and 1-4 down in the TB and still winning the whole thing, just remarkable. Kudos to Hubby, he played and served really well, just couldn’t hold up to Carlos level in the 3rd set.
Alcatraz already showing a championship mentality. Mental toughness is why he gets thru his match even when he’s only playing a mediocre game at times and still wins.
