When you see Djokovic gesturing towards his box it just reminds us how important it is to have a team supporting you in the stands. Even champions need them.

4 of the top contenders for the US Open. Would love to see Huby win it all. He’s starting to believe again.

Zverev’s forehand doesn’t have any sting. Just sits up in the middle of the court for anyone to pounce on. And matching Djokovic’s mental strength is impossible. Alcaraz is the only one who comes close.

Interesting that both finalists have gotten what they need: Alcaraz with four tight three-setters to focus his mental game (the kind of wins we normally expect from Djokovic), and Nole with four easy wins (including a retirement) to ensure he’s extremely fresh. Although today was another example of Novak just raising his game to where it needs to be to win. Zverev got that break, and suddenly Novak is playing just well enough to break back and close out.

2 epics in 1 day……2 great matches but the first one was just extraordinary match.Alcaraz was on the brink in 2nd set tie-breaker but kept defying all odds and if anyone can do it from any adverse position it’s no other than him.

The amount of tight matches Carlos wins is insane. Even when he’s not at his best, he’s so hard to beat. Amazing!

A shame for Sacha but great to see him back at this level, hope he has a deep run in the next slam !

Now is definitely generation overlapping timing. Current legend and new legend are taking over the initiative back and forth. What a year.

Djokovic and Alcaraz will face each other in 3rd consecutive tournament (when they both played) and at 3 different surfaces. (Clay, Grass and Hard)

Alcaraz v Hurkacz was truly Epic a match. It should have been the final, it was incredible how one error by Hurkacz when he had a match point, changed the entire match. Well done both players. 👏👏

The laughter after crazy points (even though he lost a few of them) pretty much tells the difference between Alcaraz and others. He’s a kid playing a game. I hope he remains that way.

Awesome match & win. Somewhere buried amongst the loud criticism of his dip in form during his NA tour is the fact that Carlitos’ just came off a 1/4 final in Toronto and is going for a sweep of the 4 major tournaments in the US in tomorrow’s final – at the ripe old age of 20 he is also undefeated in Master’s finals @4-0.

And yes, obviously some of the criticism is warranted, his timing & ball-striking have been off compared to peak Alcaraz at Wimby, FO, IW & Madrid – but not even the B3 could excel at each & every tourney/match. What made them big was their consistency – which is directly related to learning how to win when your best tennis is not there & your opponent’s is. There’s currently no more consistent player on tour than the 53-5 Alcaraz.

There’s also a visible growth in this version of Carlos as opposed to the one newly crowned #1 at last year’s USO. He said himself that it all happened so fast it took him off guard mentally – just couldn’t win the close ones after that. Injuries led to a prolonged off season which in turn gave JCF & Co plenty of time to work with him in all aspects of the game – he has his own sports psychiatrist on call. Result? Alcaraz’s stellar 2023 run where he’s at least reached the semifinals in 10 of the 12 tournaments he’s played in.

It’s plain as day that he now enjoys being number 1 and will battle hard to keep it/regain it. And number one he will be at the US Open one year after initially earning it. Kid’s simply a legend in the making. Will he add to it tomorrow against Novak? Millions will be glued to their sets to find out. Because win or lose Carlitos never fails to entertain.

Carlos’ games are just so fun to watch.. Djokovic showing everybody that age is just a number. Incredible athlete..

Es increíble cómo Alcaraz pasa de un estado de relajación, divirtiéndose cual si fuera partido de exhibición, a concentración total, para evitar 2 Match Point en contra, y de allí mantener su alto nivel.
Excelente partido de tenis.
