It’s sad Roman is not recognized by the media nor by most tennis fans at all but he’s proved how good he is
Safiullin’s highlights are a pleasure to watch. I’m glad that he was able to reach a high level after all injuries.
Zverev is a nightmare for Dimitrov.
As Safiullin improved his forehand, he is now a powerful, solid player, hope many good results will come….
Woke up extra early for the four Asian 250’s SF rounds. Zverev (6-3 7-6) & Nishioka’s (6-4 6-4) wins were fantastic given the pressure points they found themselves in. This video doesn’t include the most insane rally of Zeverev’s match. It was at 4 all & he won it to get the lead 5-4 before Dimi leveled the scoreline again. In rallies, Zeverev sometimes lets himself get pushed too far behind the baseline & doesn’t recover quickly enough, so he loses control. Gotta work on that. Z’s serve got him out of some tough spots. The forehand errors & late stage double faults really hurt Dimitrov in this match. Much like Korda’s failed drop shots, it took Dimi too long to course correct. Nishioka fought from behind in both sets including a 4-1 deficit in the 2nd. Korda was an utter disappointment against a lifted Khachanov.
Safiullin is quietly getting there. Very solid player
Wow! Safiullin clean striking, quick-smooth knee bends in adjustments.. surfing around the court.. Great game in all
Safiullin as a kid and junior was a star in Russia, like the other players at his age (Medvedev, Hachanov and Rublev)..Good to see that finally he is on track
Safiullin should be on top much faster, after a major junior tour success (#2 in the world and AO champion), but injuries slowed his movement. Glad to see him rising now.
Congrats to zverev for semifinal round🎾🔥👏
I remember Safiullin when he was a challenger player ranked 250-300. I’m so happy to see him increased to this level.
Grigor has such a marvellous backhand, it is such a shame that he only uses it like 5 times during every match. Jokes aside, in this modern and powerful era of tennis it is just not effective to play without backhand, just slicing, slicing, and more slicing. Even the slightest advantage that he earns during the rally disappears as soon as he has a ball on his backhand. Even though one handed backhand is clearly not effective anymore, you just have to risk more unforced errors during the matches in order to be the aggressive player, and not just the one that keeps the ball in play until your opponent finds the perfect ball to hit a winner. He is just to skillful, talanted and fast, it is one of the most disappointing careers in the last 20 years in my opinion, along with Juan Martin Del Potro, but he was just unlucky.
Guys who didn’t know…. Roman was part of a “golden” Russian youth back in early 10’s He,Meddy,Karen & Andrey. And whats more crazy amongst those 4 him & Andrey were considered to be the next top Russian players. In 2014 Safiulin defeated Rublev in the final of prestigious tournament for youngsters Trofeo Bonfiglio. Btw Andrey won 2014 RG juniors, was in the Wimbledon pairs final and made a podium at youth Olimpic tournament and was nr 1 in the world for some time, so thats why this win was so important for Safiulin. But then in yearly 2015 he won AO juniors and he became Nr 2 in the world! So he immediately said that from now on he will switch 100% to pro tour. I think he saw that Andrey who was the same age was already playing in ITF circuit with succes and didn’t want to be behind his main “rival”/ friend. Also Karen and Daniil also were in pro tour already. So it seemed that he destined to be one of the top Russian players along with his friends. But destiny & his fate had other plans! After winning AO at 31 January of 2015, literally in the next tournament at the beginning of February in one of the matches he got injured, withdrew from tournament & doctors said that something bad happened in his right shoulder(the hand he plays) and he must do surgery, and he did! He was out for almost whole 2015y. But when he returned it was so obvious that his shoulder is bothering him. He even changed his striking motion. But then for next 3 years some micro traumas + something changed in his hitting motion after surgery and all that kept him below top 100 for≈ 5-6 years. Well it’s a sad story: from being a prospect to become top-10 players, but due to trauma he never got even close & he struggled till 2020 to start gaining points! So i will be literally begging god to give him the victory in the finsls. That guy deserves it! He never complains, screams, trash talks, he always respect his opponents and we can say he is a hard working guy, who after 8 years of suffering, climbing in rankings finally got to his first final + he would have the best position he ever had in ATP tour. And now, finally, for AO he wouldn’t need to play qualifying matches! P.S.: When i watch Roman’s game, i always remember Wawrinka, who won his first Slam at 29y.o, So Roman has a lot of time, to finally show who he really is and were he would have been in rankings & titles if not this shoulder problem! Давай Рома!
The Zverev v Dimitrov highlights should be put last because it revealed the results for the Musetti v Safiullin match
Safiullin норм пробивает, красава
Safiullin is having a great year, finishing strong.
His game is very solid actually, he deserve to be in the top 50.
Imagine Safiullin vs Karatsev at some point… could be interesting
Very nice viewing angle. One can actually now appreciate the speed of the shots.
Roman played exceptional tennis today. He’s on a roll.
Hope there wil always be players that play like dimi, so fun to watch
Appreciate the longer highlights, great matches too
Safiullin and Zverev are so exciting to watch.
Safiullin played a great game!!
Gonzo, Fed and Delpo and even Lopez were all successful with a lot of slice except they all used it to mess with the opponents rhythm by hitting them with big shots and changing the pace of the rally often. Dimitrov just keeps the rally going until he or his opponents make anderror, his unwillingness to pull the trigger has cost him all his big matches this year. He’s more or less traded his weapons for consistency this year
HOW is that Safuillin’s first final?! This guy has such awesome balance on his follow through, his technique is rock solid and his movement around the baseline is quite dynamic, knows how to take shots on and quickly fall back immediately when needed. Plus he has a big serve when he wants to. Ever since that run at the ATP cup I thought he was going to be a top 15 consistent contender at least.
