The fact that Zverev came through this match, just goes to show you how momentum can shift so quickly in the game of tennis.
A great match, Safiullin played really well (very fun to watch) but lacked stamina in the 3rd set while Zverev was too solid on serve.
An intense match for Zverev, at high speed. 😮 A big effort for him. 👏 A great comeback, he gave a lot of himself.

Can we all agree that Russia’s got the most solid and well-balanced men’s team? You have Medvedev and Rublev who have always been contenders for biggest titles and have been one of the most consistent players on tour for the last 4 years, Khachanov who’s been making big strides on grand slams and have been playing consistently well since last year, Karatsev who’s capable of winning anyone when he’s in the right mood, and now Safiulin who’s been winning top 20 players every now and then, and has become even more dangerous this year. It’s noteworthy that Russia won all team’s tournaments in 2021, both ATP Cup and Davis Cup. Looks like they would’ve swept it all this year had their country not been banned from playing those tourneys. Anyways, this generation of Russian players have been proving how good they are. Keep it up, Russia!
Who else thought Saffulin won because the 1st set highlights took half the video and Saffulin won it?

I thought Zverev would win, but wow I didn’t realise Safiullin’s game so fun to watch, especially with so many stay-back-on-the-baseline-to-hit-long-rallies players this generation
