What a match that Etcheverry Ruud contest. I even get the thrills from only watching the highlights.
The battles are becoming more one-sided as the players continue to thin out the pack. Sinner (6-2 6-0), Alcaraz (6-2 6-2), Medvedev (7-6 6-3), & Dimitrov (6-3 7-5) each advanced to the QF with straight sets wins.
sinner’s hitting sound is explosive. and wish dimitrov continues playing well – we need beautiful tennis to continue in the tennis world!
Dimitrov having his best season since 2017 with his consistency, and finally picks up a big signature win. The Rune/Dimitrov match at Wimbledon was epic, imo a top 5 match of the year, so I’m glad Dimitrov avenged that loss. Unfortunately he has a brutal draw. Sinner will likely truck his backhand with crazy pace unless Dimitrov’s slice can bother him enough. And even if he gets past him, Alcaraz has destroyed Dimitrov and all one-handlers lately. Not a good matchup at all.
Poor etcheverry. What a fabulous match. I saw him vs Murray at IW and have had a soft spot for him ever since. Really fun to watch and a heartbreaker today. But happy to see Casper playing well!

It’s so enjoyable watching Dimitrov playing. His form and agility is at Federer’s level, so I really like watching him. He just needs something extra like the force on the backhand not just playing it safe to win a major. Because their style is somewhat close, can someone tell Dimitrov to approach Federer to be his coach or at least advisor something to get those extra,I really hope he can win a slam!
People are hard on Rune from some past impressions. I hope he turns it around and becomes a class player. I liked his initiative in coming to the net. Something about his forehand currently doesn’t give it much sting though.
