Zverev plays super well but most of the time he depends on sheer power. On the other hand, Medvedev got more control. To return that bazooka of a ball into the court is magnificent from Medvedev.

For me, looking over all of his wins this year, this one has to be the second best after vs Alcaraz at US open semis! Meddy from the first minutes meant business. In all his previous meetings he was playing a brick wall mode, but today he went into brick wall attack mode)) Some crazy winners + his serve….last game closed out with 4 first serves, 3 of them were aces. Just wow! If he will maintain this form we will have a treat of a final.vs Carlos or Sinner, doesn’t matter. But of course everybody, except Italian fans, want a repeat of ½ of the US open 2023!✌️

Hinge point of the match: 4 all in the 1st set. Zverev needed to make it 5-4 in his favor, but tried to go for glory shots instead of playing clean tennis, so the costly errors swung the set to Meddie who played super clean tennis to clinch the win in straight sets 6-4 6-3. Also, shoutout to Coco Gauff who showed champion’s mentality in her 3 set R2 win over Martic 7-5 5-7 7-6 (2). Edit: Sinner played amazingly. After 0-2 in the 1st & 2-0 in the 2nd, he neutralized the ego in Alcaraz’s gameplay. 7-6 6-1
I was fully expecting this to be yet another slog between these two, but I was very pleasantly surprised. These guys were pounding the ball.
This was instantly one of my favorite wins as a Medvedev fan. He finally put together a full, clean, aggressive match. He can beat anyone playing like this. Wish he’d do it for 7 matches in Melbourne…

What a match have we witnessed here…..both guys have put their heart out. Crazy angles and passing shots. Wow. Tennis is slowly going to some other levels recently.
