Evans being only 5’8″ is an incredible thing – he is such an amazing player. He has to work so much harder than Sinner to win points yet he pushed him all the way – big respect Dan.

Evans, your cardio is to die for!

That deuce point at 3:50 was one of the finest examples of won’t quit that I’ve seen in all of 2023!

You’re playing at a level that is so high since you played Washington D.C.

Keep that confidence about you, Evans. It’s great for tennis fans to see the likes of you, Baez, Nishioka etc. punching 🥊 lights out against these taller fellas.

It’s unfortunate that Evans had to face someone like Jannik in the first round. He deserved to get much further in the tournament with the level he’s showing

Absolutely a top-notch showdown. Both Sinner and Evans have competed on the pitch with their quality and performance. However, my second favorite tennis competitor Sinner has contended more robust, resilient and resolute than Dan Evans. It is very tough to watch such a top-flight clash in ATP Events. Congratulations to Jannik Sinner.

Very well done Jannik, and hats off to Evans for putting up this much resistance, but honestly this could have been a straight sets affair in my opinion

The pace and power that Sinner have both in his forehand and backhand is just ridiculous!!! That open stance backhand counterpunch is very effective! And Evans just keep bringing the ball again and again! It doesn’t get better than that!

Well done Jannik! I watched this match live streaming, it oscillated so much that my heart ached… Hopefully Jannik will have his physicality sorted out soon. I hate to see him suffer from cramps on the court.

3:42 se o Evans faz esse ponto pegando aquela última bola seria o ponto mais histórico da carreira dele

Amazing match-up! One of the best two-hander vs one of the best slice! People who are commenting Dan’s overrilance on slice need to realize that is one of the big weapons for single handers to combat back-hand-to-back hand exchanges with two-handers! Even though it appears slow, it’s low and vicious! Even Sinner was having a tough time attacking that ball! This type of match ups keep men’s tennis interesting!

Wow, such high quality rallies!!! High level from both players. If I had to say what was the difference from the hightlights – the single handed backhand slice of Evans as accurate and as consistent as it was, was no match for sinners DHBH! Small things can make a differece. BTW Im a SHBH player.

Good God, Sinner is aFreak as Evans played really well in that, extremely high quality tennis from both players, although Evans lost he has been a on a good run for a while now and is a joy to watch with his crafty play. I see similarities with using the slice like De Minaur and especially Dimitrov minus the backhand ground stroke.

I freaking love Evans. Sinner’s fire power is pretty insane. I expect a slam from him next year
