What’s absolutely insane is that Evans played incredibly well ! HE PLAYED VERY WELL ! But Alcaraz had all the answers whatever the difficulty, he had all the answers.
Since Nadal, Djokovic and Federer I’ve never seen a player who can consistently win matches with points like that !

[Edit: yes, it could have done: Some scintillating one-handed backhand topspin passes or winners would have been the cherry. But Dan’s topspin backhand – while nice enough sometimes – doesn’t quite cut it….]

That 1st set was one of the most entertaining sets I’ve seen in a while. It had that 15-20 minute game in the middle of it. Then Alcaraz went god mode in the tiebreak

Any other guy on this day, given the level of game evans played, he would have blown him to fine shreds. But Alcaraz is such a beast, it takes something way above ordinary to get past this guy.

i never laugh so much for a tennis highlight..Dan did everything but still wasn’t enough..Carlos is unreal!
A couple of my friends said I was crazy when they heard I went to US Open with my family and spent more than a week there last two years since we “discovered” Carlitos in 2021 during USO. We watched all his practices, almost all his matches, including with Evans this year and him winning USO 2022! It’s such a joy watching him play, his variety, his positive energy and his smile! I forwarded this and some other highlights to my friends and they wanted to join us and go to USO 2024 together!
When Dan plays like this, I don’t understand how he’s not at least top 15
Evans played his Heart out and yet Carlos won. He’s one of a kind and I’m always rooting for him to win.
Almost unreal that Evans lost. He played so well. Good sign for Carlos. He was also top!
Two of the most talented shotmakers and magicians going at it, you’ve got to love it. The scoreline didn’t do justice to how close it actually was. A majority of the close games were barely won by Carlos.
Evans is no push over. But even he has to be in disbelief about Alcaraz. Great match.
I don’t think there will be any other player to beat the Big 3 records, but the skills Carlos shows in every single game are outstanding. It’s like watching Messi in his prime.
Dan Evans has such amazing footwork. Love watching him play.
