That was the type of victory for Shelton that leads to growth as a player. Daniel was playing very solidly and at his best level with some home advantage from the crowd, but Ben found a way to overpower him consistently and not throw away easy points in long rallies. Even though Daniel is ranked no. 97, he had taken Ben to 5 sets in Wimbledon, so he is not a pushover player. If he keeps this level of confidence, Ben Shelton will grow into a formidable opponent for anyone.

Watanuki has SO MUCH POTENTIAL! He’s gonna be Japan #1 at some point and he really could be top 20. He has great strokes, great technique. He’s kinda like Ben Shelton just gotta grow and continue to refine.

Rudd is fun to watch Japan needs to step up their commitment to the young stars they have, they are good, haven’t seen them in a lot of tournaments last few yrs, they are on the cusp to greatness.

Draper is so good but unfortunately made of glass. Too young to have so many physical problems.
Have to feel for draper. Has it all but locked up and his body gives out on him. Truly sad 🙁
Shelton would’ve lost this type of match 3-6 months ago. his progression this year has been remarkable
