Sinner has found the best moment to beat Tsitsipas in the current season : at the top of his level, supported by his passionate fans.

Sinner looks to be in superb form and he has confidence in himself. Out of the next generation, I fancy him to be the biggest performer.

No trouble for Sinner. Basically just needed to serve to Tsitsipas’s backhand to start every service point on top. Occasionally mixing it with an ace to his forehand, very strong service performance. And Tsitsipas didn’t have his best day on serve, Sinner’s returns are too good, together with his baseline game, powerful from both wings. Looking forward to his other matches.

It’s almost like Tsitsipas stopped grinding for points. He only goes for quick points now, but he seems to have a hard time defending against heavy hitters like Rublev, Sinner.

The quality of hitting is sublime ! Sinner can really produce effortless power, on his good day, he’s too good.

Quello che colpisce di più del gioco di Sinner in questo momento è la facilità e fluidità con cui colpisce la palla, praticamente senza sforzo, ma generando una violenza pazzesca

Feels like new gen, Carlos, Rune and Sinner are taking over. Leaving behind players like tsitsi, ruud, rublev.

I hope Tsitsipas’s elbow is okay. He loves these indoor hard court conditions and he has such an aesthetically pleasing game compared to a lot of the top 10. Hopefully he can put up a better performance in his other group matches.

Tsisipas didn’t play bad and he did make couragous choices in his game trying to add some variety in my opinion. Sinner is in super shape.

I think Tsitsipas is showing good spirit here but in my opinion, he needs to work more on his backhand which actually is a quite promising shot for him. At 0:23 he does the quite common escape backhand droppshot and at 0:47 he has a good opuotunity to drive his backand straight along the line but choses to slice it instead. He loses at least two of Sinners breakpoints because of failured backhand. From the end of the first set he suddenly shows what he can do with his backhand, probably because of instructions from his father to be more offensive from that wing. Sinner is, like Wilander predicted years ago, a player who at one or more ocassions is going to stand with a GS-trophy in his hands.

imma be honeset i thought at 5-4 40-30 while watching these highlights tsitsipas’s backhand would break down. really didnt but that was only that point

I think Sinner and Rune are going to be the next big rivalry in tennis. … IF Djokovic decides to retire before he’s 45.

Not an unexpected result, as Sinner has been on a roll of sorts the last 8-9 months. That said, I was pleased to see Tsitsipas playing at a high level, and fighting pretty much to the end. For a while (6 months ago) I thought his career, in terms of being in the top 10, looked doubtful. And though he may not be a crowd favorite, he has lots of skill so good on him.
