they surely played with less focus than usual. it was fun to watch. its crazy to see how fit and strong djokovic is when he wants. he has surely the perfect physique for tennis.

The two best players in the world casually making history. What more could we ask for? The banter, the friendly atmosphere and mutual respect.
I love the respect between these 2. Even though it’s elite level tennis, they enjoy it. They smile at one another, and more importantly LEARN.
Props to Alcaraz, he certainly going to have a good 2024, but how many times do we hear novak say “that loss pissed me off, so I wanted to win everything afterwards”. Time will tell.

O Djoko parece guardar energia para os jogos que realmente valem, inteligentemente se poupa, não é mais um garoto. Além de “gastar” as derrotas nesses jogos, ninguém vai ganhar sempre, dá ao forte oponente sensação de dever cumprido. O importante é quando chegar o Australian Open e os demais Slams.

This definitely was Novak conserving energy, he was going for very low shot percentage shots. Which is the exact opposite of what he does to win 24 grand slam titles. He didn’t want to brutalize his body with long points with Alcaraz just before Australian.
The older he gets the more time and preparation is needed to get to the 100% level. On the other hand, no one has more experience in doing exactly that. Reminds me before US Open. This is not the Novak you see in Australia. Don’t be fooled. He will be on the level.
It’s great to see the Federer like skills Alcaraz has. He learned from the best talent.

My knees hurt from watching the intense exchanges between these two great players.
This was a match of flow. Djokovic was teaching Alcaraz how to not be so aggressive on his body during points and you can see Alcaraz adapting in the second set after using gravity versus propulsion. Once he learned, Djoko stepped it up a lil. Great match
