Mannarino was barely running…just redirecting and efficient. He has amazingly effective technique!

Glad to see players like Mannarino can still win in modern tennis – placement and brains over pure power

Mannarino , The Zidane of tennis, no running, no body building, handling the game on its own terms . Very smart player.

I swear I so happy for the underdogs who have been solid players and now reaping some real success….Mannarino, Dimitrov to name a couple

Насколько Маннарино обоятелен и скромен в поведении на корте , настолько неприятен высокомерен и отталкивает от себя Шелтон

I love Mannarino dude. The baldness, the long ass t shirt, the super compact swing, the fact that he doesn’t *look* like he’s in particularly amazing shape (I know he’s fit, maybe has something to do with the oversized t shirt)… I watch him play and I’m like “yo they let some random guy play in the Australian open… and he’s kicking ass.” It’s awesome I love it

Mannarino, looks, dresses and plays like no one else on tour. He is so crafty out there and good under pressure. Probably a nightmare to play against. I actually really like the match up of him vs Novak this year.

5:52 that’s amazing. “Mannarino finally winning one of the cat and mouse points”. Mannarino is brilliant at cat and mouse points. its amazing to me that shelton was able to get the better of him so many times. Shelton really has an amazing sense and feel around the net. its such a shame his forehand just doesn’t match up with what he brings to the table. amazing serve. amazing volleys. amazing athleticism and fitness. but he just doesn’t have that oppressive heavy topspin forehand that can help him push his opponent back and open the way forward to net from a neutral rally position. anytime he has a little bit of time on the ball with his forehand, he just flattens it out. too many errors that way, and prevents him from leveraging one of the things that makes him special. but then again, when I see him make an effort to hit with more topspin, he ends up hitting these super slow loopy moonballs. I don’t know if its a grip issue, or a technical issue…or just stupid shot selection, but he seems incapable of producing that mixture of heavy topspin and pace that all the best forehands seems capable of producing from a neutral rally position.

Clean and simple game from Andrianno. Good hands and taking the ball early is very effective. Nice to watch him play his best at the age of 35.
Does he stand a chance against Novak?
I don’t think so but strangest things has happened in tennis. For example Soderling beating Rafa in Paris.
Good luck. It d be great story if it happens.

Vamos Mannarino! Quite a feat, well done!

Shelton is great, I like him overall.
I’m sure he’s a nice guy, but his constant celebrating and screaming on court is so annoying.

as a French, I have to say I’m amazed to see all of you guys rooting for Adrian. I mean, the media here didn’t do much for him, always behind Tsonga, Monfils and Gasquet for example. But reading all of your comments makes me realize he has much more love outside of our borders than inside. Nuff respect to all of you guys 😉

Just love Mannarino and his no nonsense, workman like approach. Not to mention his home-made outfit. Lol

He hits on the rise so clean and the amount of pace he can redirect is beyond impressive. He’s gone from someone you’ve heard of 5+ years ago to someone you want to wathc now. Well done!
