Machac’s clean strokes are so satisfying to see, and with that kind of consistency too. Amazing performance, never thought anyone outside the top 10 would dare to challenge Rublo in a groundstroke battle and come out victorious like it wasn’t a big deal.
Rublev didn’t play badly at all, this time he was simply outplayed, all the credit goes to Machac.

They need to make these tournaments free to attend – so at least few dozen people would be in the seats! The stadium was completely empty!
Rublev losing was a Big Disappointment 😢

1 week or 2 ago Rublev similarly lost to another Czech, Machac’s davis cup teammate Jiri Lehecka. Both used the same tactics – try to be more aggressive than Rublev, don’t let him play his game. (that’s not easy since Rublev has very aggressive play style.) And it worked for them. It seems they’ve shared some tactical info.
