Ruud is admirable with his honesty. That’s true sportsmanship. He will soon be a champion in his time. I am happy for Alcaraz. He really is a born champion! Congratulations to you both for the exciting and entertaining match. You both did not fail the crowd.
The sportsmanship from Ruud is more than admirable. Huge respect there
After winning the Madrid masters earlier this year people where wondering wether if he could hold on for 5 sets at grand slam, some where calling him overrated. In this US open he has broken many records, youngest world number 1 and also youngest US open champion in a while.
And to think that he was 1 point away from losing against Sinner in the Quarters is absolutely 🤯🤯. Congratulations to Carlos, a new star has officially been born and as for Ruud, he’s a great and consistent player so his chances will come. Amazing final and tournament! 😊
Alcaraz is for real. Discipline, character and consistency which some of the younger players lack. Clearly Ruud is a top 5 and hopefully will win some grand slams. Alcaraz will rack up grand slams like the big 3. NOW we can say there is a relay of power officially from Nadal (maybe one or two more French opens?) Federer and Novak to these younger players who will actually win multiple grand slams (Alcaraz and Medvedev leading the younger players at the moment).
I guess we won’t hear those cleverheads call him overrated or overhyped anymore. Great win by Carlos, he played some amazing matches and the title is well deserved!
An incredible tournament from Carlos. Played 5 sets in RD4, QF and SF. Played 4 sets in the final. The longest time on court in a Slam. Only 19 years old. His first Grand Slam, the youngest ever World #1, the first teenager #1. Amazing and so classy and humble while doing it. Congratulations Carlos!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Casper Ruud is all class. Hopefully he can stay competitive throughout his career and win a few grand slams.
Ruud’s attitude deserves a round of applause as well. Great match both. Carlito 🎊🎊🎊
“It’s his point.”
– Casper Ruud
He won respect from fans for that!
Much respect to the Norwegian sportsman Ruud! We are witnessing the next age of tennis!
When Nadal won the French open 2005 it was said that ” This kid has a lot of heart, and this is surely the first among many, many”.
One can say this about Alcaraz as well, even if he’s different from Nadal.
The beginning of a new chapter for men’s tennis. We are witnessing a new era form. We are witnessing, history.
This young man is amazing. I am mesmerized by his abilities on the court. Had me on the edge of my seat all match. I just love him!👍
Congrats Alcaraz! You deserved the win! I hope you are be able to win more grand slams in the future! I wish you the best of luck!
Prime Federer was scary. Ultra aggressive, best serve. And had a complete game But his backhand was a weakness on bouncier courts and against heavy topspin.
Prime Nadal: was a beast. But still primarily a defensive player and a backhand which was liable at times.
Prime Djokovic: the greatest baseliner of all time. But still a defensive player. And not too nifty mid court and at the net.
This kid Alcaraz, seems to combine the best of Big 3. Ruthless attacking mentality, mid court, net game of Federer. Baseline skill of Djokovic and the defensive abilities of both Nadal and Djokovic. Not to mention the extraordinary mental maturity.
2:09 What a rally 🤯
Congratulations to Alcaraz, this seems like the first of many for him. I hope Ruud gets his hand on a Slam trophy soon, he has played some great tennis in this season.
This final and the alcaraz sinner match should be how role models inspire young players. Respectful champions
More of them lets put matches like Kyrgios v Tsitsipas in the bin please
a 🐐 in the making . never seen a 19 year doin what hes doin .. playing 3 5 setters and still winning the tournament in an unreal level .. the most electric player to ever play the game !! tennis future is bright ✨
Felicidades, Carlos! Todos en Latinoamérica te apoyamos!!!
The funniest part of this is Alcaraz’s coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, used to be Rafa’s teammate and Ruud was trained at Rafa Nadal’s academy at one point. We have great great tennis players around here. Nice to see them thriving. Also congrats Carlos, you deserved to end the season like this. More to come.
This boy from today is a legend for what he has done so young, and the day this boy retires from tennis because of age or whatever, he will enter the Tennis Hall of Fame and will be reflected and recognized in the books of tennis history for being the youngest player to be number one in the world, among other records that only he has broken, such as being the first Spanish tennis player (and I think also the first hispanic tennis player) to win the Masters 1000 in Miami and also for being one of the few to beat Nadal, Djokovic and Zverev round after round and win the Masters 1000 in Madrid, among many other things that he has done and will do…
Muchas felicidades Carlos. Tu esfuerzo y humildad han encontrado su recompensa. Este ha sido el primero de muchos.
Huge respect to Casper! He proves himself that he can keep in top 5 in long future.
I was okay with either one winning. I love both players. They both deserved it. I’m we will be seeing this match up many times over the years. Congrats to both and I want to see them playing well at AO next year!
Despite of being superhappy with Carlos, me being a spaniard, i really feel for Ruud. He had a 2 set Set Point that i think if he had converted could have changed the match. He is all class, also very young and talented, and a very humble guy. His training in the Rafa Nadal academy had a huge impact in his game. Very excited about this new generation coming. I think is better than the so called “Nextgen”.
Llevo meses siguiendo a Carlos y nunca con ningún jugador me lo he pasado tan bien ,es divertido ,original y un maravilloso chico , ojalá siga así.
Alcaraz made me and my father tennis fans. We know nothing of tennis but seeing his matches and court coverage was something we couldn’t keep our eyes off. amazing run at being a champion Carlitos!
Felicidades Carlos eres el mejor ayer hoy y el futuro ves a ser el campeón de campeones y da mucho orgullo que representas la madre patria yo soy mexicano
I remember Alcaraz last year saying that he was ready to win a major and that he could feel that moment. A lot of people considered him arrogant and foolish for saying that because he was only 18 at the time. They said he needed to be humbled first.
Well, Alcaraz was off a bit on the timing but he wasn’t off by much. He knew it and I think the writing was on the wall overall that his first major was going to come at any time because of his talent.
I wonder what those naysayers think now:).
Vamos Alcaraz. Brillante jugador. Felicidades por el título
This standard of play is incredible, tennis is going to a new level..
