Tsitsipas first set was in god mode, I think the overtime practicing took a toll on him, surely he had a way better start because he was warmed up so well, the fact that he had 0 unforced errors and a lot of winners, taking the ball early and good court coverage made him a complete different player. However, taking the ball that early and being so aggressive meant that it will require more focus and take up more stamina, I can pretty much predict the downfall when I saw him playing during his service game in the second set, a lot more unforced errors and first serves starting to miss. Rublev, on the other hand, surprised me, he he has been completely dominated by Stef in the first set but he took his chance and played solidly with his forehand and serves, pressuring Tsitsipas, stopping him to shorten rallies. Really well done for both players, Stef needs to keep up his consistency and good luck on the semis for BWEEH!

Rublev is a spy. Tennis racket quality engineer. Huge respect to Medve for giving his best even when no chance to get to SF. Djoko should not risk his health just to win more tournaments. That shaking was really scary.

Congrats to Djokovic! When his arm started shaking during the changeover going into the third set, I literally thought that he was going to retire. I’ve never seen him bend over so much to catch his breath during a match. In my opinion, if there was one person who could beat him on hard courts, it would have to be Medvedev (and Zverev), since their games are so similar. Medvedev almost came close, but Novak is just too good. I did not think Rublev would win, so congrats to him!

Stef basically played perfect in the first set, had a hiccup in the second, and then completely imploded in the third. Meanwhile, Andrey kept sticking around and raising his level. What a win, go BWEH!!

Also, Stef needs to ditch his parents ASAP, they’re clearing a negative influence in his big matches.

Andrey knew how to give his best in this match, he did it in an amazing way 👏 So proud of you Rublo! ❤️

Rublev at the same time exalts me and makes me nervous. It’s an advantage because it means he’s a player who transmits a lot of emotions. Then when he’s “in the zone” he’s really an incredible talent.

Incredible effort from Djokovic, who could have saved some energy for the semifinal. Hope everything is ok with Tsitsipas..he seems to have lost motivation in that third set.

I really enjoy Rublev’s game, especially when he gets angry and throws his racket to the ground… Every time he does that he comes back better in the game.

Damn this game really hit Novak hard mentally and physically, dunno why he had to try so hard cause he’s already in the semi’s. Maybe to get revenge for the US open but still props to him

Some people say that since Novak had already qualified for the semifinals and Medevedev had not, that this match was pointless. Not to Novak & Meddy! They both gave it all! Kudos! High level matches. Even matches which don’t matter turns out matter!
Novak is in an unbeatable form and will next play Fritz who he has beaten in all their 5 meetings including their last meeting at Paris 2021 indoor hard court. Fritz is a better player now.
Rublev played great tennis. However, the mighty Novak is in the way. Amazing how Rublev was dismantled by Novak in 2 east sets.
Rublev has beaten Ruud 4 times to one loss. However, the last match was during last year’s ATP Finals when Ruud won in 3 close sets.
Chance for 3 players who have never won the ATP Finals to win.

“Brilliant tennis” they said of Tsitsipas. “He can do no wrong.” Until his dominating dad got under his skin, yet again

Even though it was a dead rubber, I felt Djokovic vs Medvedev would deliver more:
1. because of unfinished business in Astana (Medvedev was leading until the injury and was a couple of points away in T/B, Djokovic felt like he didn’t really earn it and the match overall was on a knife edge),
2. these two bring the best out of each other tactically (they evolve after every match) and the strengths force the other to adapt their weakness.
3. they both wanted to make a statement (Medvedev finish year on high and Djoko beating the only guy that has matched him this indoor season).

wow…what can i say? world class match between djokovic vs medvedev, djokovic looked so exhausted in the third set, warrior vs warrior but djokovic (35) still the boss here

Despite how he reacts negatively at times, and despite the fact that his game isn’t as flashy or brilliant as the Big 3 and or standout as his main 3 NextGen rivals or other standout stars – there is no doubt that Rublev is one of my favorite players. He has the intensity. He has heart. He will fight, though sometimes he does get down on himself and maybe occasionally give up. But when he fights, he really fights. And he certainly seems way more humble than Tsitsipas, Medvedev, and Zverev. There’s just a lot to love about him. At least in my opinion.

I can’t believe my eyes. It’s very rare that Djokovic shows this much fatigue. His endurance has been so legendary that I forget that he can get tired.

God, I honestly hope that this is the match that people remember as the one where Rublev finally shook off his mental demons and became the player he was always meant to be. 💪🏻🎾
