Kostyuk squandered this opportunity. Gauff’s mental strength got her through this match.
Coco’s mobility is second to none on the WTA. I love her willingness to chase every ball.
Great tourney for Kostyuk even with this loss. Coco was just too strong and disciplined.
Marta has improved so drastically in this tournament! She just needs to improve her mental game and attitude to be in a top 10 territory. I hope she’ll get there soon!
This is exactly what it means to win ugly. It was a terrible match. Congrats Coco.
Congratulations Coco.. incredible fight u both, great athleticism. I just wish they added more direction to their ground strokes. Well fought and well played Marta.. sweet sweet embrace and smiles at the net.. respect and love. Keep going 💪
Her mental ability to keep calm and push on is incredibly
Huge Congrats, Coco! Your opponent is a winner too with her gracious attitude at the end of match-open arms hug of congratulations! Liked that!
Congratulations on the win Coco. Her movement is top tier glad she got this win it’s going to set up her mental for the rest of the year. First AO semi ✅
Great comeback in the first set by Gauff and really stepped it up in the third set. She was always quick on her feet but since the Wimbledon exit she has been much tougher mentally with the addition of Brad Gilbert.
This was such a great and dramatic match, both are excellent players. I have no doubt Kostyuk will become better in the next tournaments.
Congrats on the win Coco!💜. Great job Marta making it this far be happy for your achievement, good working out, your body looks great!
Maybe in the third set, Kostyuk’s mind was constantly revolving around the thought of “what if I won that first set.”
Now I would have paid my weight in gold to see this live… Never a dull moment.
This is what competitive sports is all about.
What a game. Congrats COCO!
Congratulations coco wish you the best to hold this crown of AO 💪💪💪💪
After long I’m seeing Marta congratulating her opponent, and she takes a big step actually embracing Coco, I couldn’t believe my eyes… Is it because Coco is from USA??
Either way she won…maybe having to do it the hard and not in straight sets may be of an advantage in the semis …well done young lady💪💯😡
Some headlines said “Coco wins ugly”, who cares, she won. I am very impressed with Coco’s maturity and patience. A great player finds a way to win in a bad day, in contrast, her opponent threw tantrums all time time when things didn’t go her way. I am glad Coco ousted her so we don’t have to watch her anger anymore.
This match has me on my toes, coco was serving terribly, one game in the second set she didn’t even hit a first serve in, just had me so nervous. But the final set she locked in. Served amazing up until she had to serve for the match at 5/0, but after 5/2 she served better again. I didn’t get to watch the first set but a 1/5 comeback is amazing. Great stuff and I wish to see her win in the SF but it will be a very very tough match against a red hot Aryna Sabalenka, Sabalenka will be firing shots.
