On 3-4 40-30 murray serve, third set there was an outrageous “mistake” (on purpose by the french linesman if you ask me) in favor of paire. Murray had effectively won the game, reaching 4-4 but the linesman did not call a ball that was clearly out. Instead of 4-4 it was 4-3 40-40, enough to decide a match. Murray got broken and lost the match. DISGRACE

I was there during Benoit and Andy’s match. You can’t actually appreciate it on the video but the crowd was going going crazy when Benoit came back from a set down to win the match. I had to say that Murray lost the match on a bad call ( and everyone who saw the match live knows it ). At 4-3 for Paire, Murray was 40-30 up on his serve to equal Paire at 4-4, and he thought that he had the won the point that would make him win his game because Benoit’s forehand was long and everyone saw it. But no one called it out and Murray didn t have any challenge remaining. So it ended up on a deuce and then he got mad and lost his focus and got broken. So it was 5-3 for Paire and he served for the match. Even if Murray managed to save 4 match points, he ended up losing. On the other side, it was a very emotional moment for Benoit, he started crying during the interview saying that these times were difficult for him, that he was playing mainly challengers and he was so happy to be back on court and winning matches. He also said that he gets criticized pretty often and I think that seing people supporting him like that during a match was very emotional for him.

As much as I like Murray as his post-hip years roll on I’ve come to enjoy his tennis less and less. It’s become super monotonous. Playing like a pusher, not being aggressive. I watch the highlights in hopes he will change that style and play high risk tennis but no.
I was here and what a level ! Seriously we saw some insane rallies, just pure tennis.

A guy who’s had a solid career despite possessing very few tools versus a guy with insane talent but who’s achieved relatively little. So happy the talent came out on top!
Murray’s next match should be in the seniors tour. Harsh, but facts. It’s time, same as Wawrinka, Gasquet and Fognini. Great careers. Time to say goodbye. Bad way to go out losing 1st rounds all over the world.

Very good battle. One of these seasons I would like to see Paire for the entire or most of the tennis season.
after that 6-2 against the tanker paire i thought match was over, but i forgot every few months paire turns on goat mode and decides he wants a little more money that week, unluckily for murray this happened to be the week that paire arrived at full clutch comeback mental fortitude form and showcased his immense tactical prowess to dismantle murrays game in 2 tight but well controlled sets, bravo boowaar pear, and many thanks from your next opponent for the free win. 🙂
Fancy court but difficult to enjoy the match with the clashing colors. Surprised that Murray lost this match. Pity.
They didn’t even show the most influential point of the match at 3-4 deuce in the third set. Shot from Paire looked way long but Murray was out of challenges and lost his focus en route to the break.
