Taylor Fritz becomes the new World No. 8 on Monday 📈 How high will he finish 2022?
So Tiafoe was almost invincible for the past year in tiebreaks and now he lost the final with both sets in tiebreaks. Perfectly balanced!
Everybody has learned from the Big Three. You will not survive on the ATP tour unless you can cover, court, and run for days. Court coverage has transcended to another level, now. If you want to beat a TOP 20, you will not get any cheap points, now. Incredible speed and athleticism demonstrated by both Taylor and Francis. A joy to watch!
This was effectively the battle for the US men’s number 1 slot. My money was on Foe but got to hand it to Fritz. Strong stuff. 👏👏

Rooting for Foe but still a fan of Taylor. Well played matched. Really good hard hitting rallies. Congrats to Taylor for not only winning the tournament but winning two tiebreakers against Frances. Not an easy feat given Frances incredible streak.

Great match! Two good guys. Tiafoe has been in really good form in recent months and had the momentum, but when Frtiz is on his A-game he can beat anyone. Congrats to him.

Some fun facts for the final:
First Tokyo final between two Americans since mid 90s.
Common denominators between the two contestants – both Americans, both aged 24. Initials TF and FT, and according to Wikipedia they both weigh in at 190 lbs (86 kilos).
Obviously played for Team World in Laver Cup this year, and possibly both in the form of their lives.
And they both defeated Nadal this year.
Dream week for Fritz, breaking into the top 10 for the first time. Guy has talent – hope he keeps on going 👏
