Solid opener performance from Sinner, with no other seeds on his half of the draw I hope he can make it to the final. (A Sinner-Djokovic rematch at a final would be the perfect start to the season). If he stays injury-free this can pretty much be his breakthrough year.
I respect Murray for getting out there and doing his best. He’s not the same player he was before his hip surgery but he’s still an all time great.
All my tennis wishes to Sinner for this year with more wonder match vs Alcaraz.
Be interesting to know what Lendl is telling Murray. It can’t be to be this defensive.

Not including Laver cup or doubles, since May of last year when he lost to Alcaraz in Madrid, he has only lost twice.

It’s disappointing that Murray hasn’t tried to change his game after the metal hip recovery. He just can’t hit from the baseline like that any more. The fact he got back into the top 50 at all was superhuman but there’s only so far that determination and defensive play will take you

First thing I noticed with Murray was how ridiculously far behind the baseline he was playing. That Mr Murray is not gonna win you many matches, despite how fit you look and how well you’re cracking the ball.

The noise from Sinner’s racquet is quite impressive, Djokovic looks unbeatable, and for the love of God someone needs to tell Murray to play as offensively as he can.
After losing the 3:46 point I would’ve retired too, Daniil bringing that ball back from the depths of hell is too much to cope with.
Djokovic looks so fresh and motivated, this will be strong start of 2023 season!
