This was a tough match-up for Alcaraz. Ruusuvuori played brilliantly in the first set and a half, hitting and returning super hard like Sinner. Some of his backhands were ridiculously fast. Alcaraz struggled to find his rhythm, but the over 13-minute service game at 2:3 in the second set got him going. Serve & volleying at break point down was exactly why I love this guy. Even he admitted that it was virtually a match point, he would probably be broken mentally if he lost that game.

Until that moment nothing worked for him in this match, apart from pretty good serving, that saved him a couple of times. From 3:3 he was on a roll. Moving three metres further back on return also helped a lot in the 2nd and 3rd sets. It’s fair to say that changing the rule to coaching allowed is helping him a lot. I doubt he would be able to figure out the solution to this match by himself, but that’s normal for such a young guy. The team is doing a great job.

Emil Ruusuvuori’s style is similar to Sinner and thus we can see the struggle from Alcaraz.

No conocía a Ruusuvuori y me ha sorprendido, ha jugado como un auténtico campeón, peleándole a Carlitos en su casa de tú a tú, no hay que perderle de vista, pronto le veremos en el top 10.

Ruusuvuori played really well in 1st set, he made only 3 or 4 unforced errors. He was hitting hard and kept the ball really deep. Less spin on his groundstrokes today than when he played on hard courts! But Alcaraz has lost only 1 match on clay this year. He knows how to win tough matches. Congrats to Carlos🎉

I was there today and will be there all the way to the final. There’s nothing like Carlos nowadays. It’s electrifying to witness such incredible heart and soul fighting for greatness in life.

Incredible. This is what people would live for. The emotions. Collecting moments. Incredible.

Emil will go places. He has the right attitude towards the game. Seems to be very respectful as well, which I love about the guy.

He came back because he is already a great champion. He finds the way to win on a bad day at the office. All these opponents and their coaches only concentrate on destroying his game. He mostly overcomes and gets even stronger anyway. Vamos Carlitos

That was insane! The sixth game in second set was a turning point of the match for sure. Also, forehand and dropshot returned to the level where they belong in the third set.

I’ve been there today and what a match!! The atmosphere was amazing and Ruusuvuori played amazingly during the first set. But Alcaraz is just too good, first time I’ve seen him playing in person and the support from the people was unbelievable

This is just a nerve wrecking match! I really thought Alcaraz will exit early in this tournament considering he is the current champion. ER played really well especially in the first set. Hope to see him win on future tournaments. For Alcaraz, he is just mentally strong to make a comeback and win this match on the 3rd set. Vamos Carlitos!

Hay miles que le pegan bien a la pelota, incluso un top 200 le puede ganar un set al numero 1, pero mantener ese gran nivel de tenis durante rodo el partido, solo unos cuantos lo pueden lograr, bien Alcaraz 👏👏
