The soon-to-be former teenager has formidable ground strokes, solid service return game, on-court IQ, relentless will, consistent drop shots, clutchness, and the heart of a champion. Please stay healthy.

There doesn’t seem to be a single Alcaraz match without at the very least one insane point. At 19, his shot reel is already longer than most players who’ve been on tour for a decade. And while he likes to entertain, he’s not just a showboater … the guy WINS. What a treat to witness this.

Alcaraz’s biggest weapon is his drop shots. He made three in ninth game of second set to broke back and in eleventh game he made one with net cord to earn deciding break. I missed one point where I think he made other drop shot too in same game. . That and his serve improvement this year has made his life easy

I was honestly already expecting them to play the decider… Karen was playing well while Carlos subpar by his own standards but he still came through. Great way to end his teenage years!

I’m a Djokovic fan, but forget it, if this kid stays healthy he will win all next majors for a good while. Insane level.

People talking about alcaraz’s errors but it is also due to huge hitting by karen. But like a champion he turned it on around. That is what separates champions from good players. He exploited karen’s movement by his drop shots

I wish they would show tennis from this view on TV. It’s great, it really shows off the spins, variety and the physicality of the sport.

It’s uncanny how similar Alcaraz is to a young Federer. It’s almost like the Spaniard has modeled his game on the Swiss: Ultra aggressive baseline game by painting the corners, getting the opponent out of position and then using the wide arsenal of immaculate net game, drop shots, short angles, and touch games to finish the point.

The difference though is Alcaraz is far more fearless and doesn’t fear losing and hence is more of a risk taker. Federer always seemed to have his ego on the line and that prevented him from winning so many matches.

The kid wasn’t even playing his A game and yet he still won in straights, overcoming a 1-4 deficit in the 2nd set to boot. Legend!

In my life, I never thought I’d see another player who would have footwork that could stand up to Nadal’s. But Carlitos’ footwork reminds me of Nadal in so many ways, especially how he dances around the baseline to get to his forehand.

And all this before even turning 21. Scary to think his game can improve further even when its already so complete.
