When Alcaraz goes creative, it is such a pleasure to watch.
He realy brings something else. Well deserved victory.

I feel like Rublev needs to shift his perspective a bit. There’s no shame in losing to players like Alcaraz and Medvedev. If he can find a way to be less harsh on himself, he might play more relaxed and consequently better and more competitive tennis.

I cannot bear to watch Rublev these days. You can accurately predict when he is going to go ‘mental’.

The second set was brutal, poor Rublev! Carlos was playing so much better than in the first match. Almost untouchable on serve (over 50% of his first serves were unreturned, did he ever have so many free points?), made plenty of winners and hardly any errors. They say every match is different and it’s right. This was very important for his confidence, can’t wait for Alcaraz vs. Medvedev, it’s going to be a real battle and if Carlos repeats this performance, Medvedev will have to play his 110% again to beat him.

Well, that was the best performance from Alcaraz in a while. For all the naysayers, he is still there, somewhere. The source of his recent problems was confidence or training. Whatever it was, he was so fast and robust. Those backhands on the run are spectacular.

Fun fact: Rublev was furious for about 70% of the match and got none code violations. It’s really sad to see Rublev like this. The guy has one of the best personalities off the court but on the court, he is missing like 5-8% to really push through and win frequently against let’s say, the top 5. He works so hard for good results only to be beaten by one of the top 5 players. If he could clear the cloud and “demons” in his head, he would be a much bigger threat. Right now, he is literally the QF-man, reminds me a bit of Berdych, he was the “punching bag” for the big 3-4 in slams but at least Berdych has some SF’s and a final… Hopefully Rublev can turn it around in 2024.

Seems Rublev was boiling all his mental weaknesses the whole semester to sticks it out in Finals that’s the Rublev we knew but weren’t missing. I agree with the guy commenting the match he said “it’s impossible win a match in this level with this mentality”.

Great to see Alcaraz back at the highest level, this will shut down the haters that keep talking for nothing each time he’s injured or lost

It’s sad to see what he do to himself, maybe he needs more love from himself. I root for him and wish him the best.

well, at least I am sure Rublev will play more in this tournament in the coming years. He’s a top 10 player who keeps improving.

The top 5 or 6 guys is starting to get very competitive and everyone has raised their games to stay with Djokovic and Carlos. I think Carlos will be at the top spot among the youner guys, it is nice to see a more competitive mens field beyond 1 and 2 …
