The first of many, I still can’t get over the level of Sinner’s game and mental fortitude now

Now that’s how you win your 1st grand slam. Not giving up and pounding a winner down the line. Awesome job Sinner!! 🎉🎉🎉

One thing to note: Medvedev had just come off a 5-setter a couple days prior. Dude was gassed by the third. Still so proud of Sinner! I’ve been saying for ages that he’d be one of the greats of this generation alongside Alcaraz.

You can see by his reaction when he breaks at 5-1 in the second that he’s very much calm and confident that he can play better tennis despite the unfavourable score. Amazing personality and level of tennis!

Read somewhere after the semifinal games, Sinner didn’t have the mental strength to cope with Medvedev’s game.
There’s no response more resounding than coming back 2 sets down to win your first slam.
Blistering game Jannik ⚡

Meddy clearly running on fumes given previous matches, but he still managed to bring some serious energy in the first two sets. Absolutely commendable work, but unfortunately it was not enough. Congrats to Jannik! 🇮🇹

Sensational tennis from Sinner to come back from 2 sets to love down in his first grand slam final to win the AO!
Also, great run by Meddy!

I didn’t know Sinner was such a mental beast..even more remarkable at his young age. Knowing you’re capable of playing great tennis and actually able to execute in clutch situations are 2 different things altogether..hats if to Jannik and well deserved AO champ!

I’ve followed Sinner from the very beginning. I’ve always said that he has the game needed to be a champion, but what has changed the most about him and what has brought him over the top (besides the developments in his forehand and serve) is his belief in himself and his complete sense of composure on court. I really think that aspect has come a long way under Darren Cahill. He’s been showing us a champion’s mentality for the past few months, and the only thing that was really missing was the major championship. It was an inevitability and I can’t be any happier for him and his team.

Medvedev just can’t catch a break in Australia. Kudos to Sinner for believing he could still win despite being two sets down.

Sinner’s win vs Djokovic in Australia and Alcaraz’s win vs Djokovic in Wimbledon were so meaningful, it’s like a change of the guard in men’s tennis despite Nole is still a threat for anyone but Jannik & Carlos have already proven themselves in the biggest stages. We’ll certainly witness plenty of epic battles and Slam finals between these two in the future, hope their rivalry to last as long as possible. Congrats Sinner, sensational tennis 👏🏻

Probably one of the best runs in the new era of male tennis. That, along his attitude, his mental strength and overall his demeanor on court makes Sinner probably my favorite new generation player.

The fact that he went straight to his team after the win…And not showing too much attitude or aggression after the win shows a lot of character…. From an Alcaraz fan I see the danger in future games….

The mental development of Sinner is something else! To believe in yourself after going down 0-2 in your first GS final and be able to turn it around is really special.

What a performance from Sinner! The mental strength and determination he showed to come back from being down two sets is truly inspiring. This win is a testament to his hard work and dedication. Congratulations to him on a well-deserved victory at the AO!
