Even in a loss, Alcatraz is rarely bitter when meeting his opponent at the net. Great example for young tennis players!

Felt bad for Ruby. That one break of serve in the 1st set was all Meddie needed. Things went bad to worse for Ruby in the 2nd set. He was immediately broken to 2-0 then again when he fell & couldn’t recover in time as Meddie went up 4-1. Poor guy wanted to cry during the changeover. It was not his day. Meddie put pressure on Ruby’s serve right away. Now, Ruby will need to beat Alcaraz to have any hope. After Day 1 for both groups, Meddie emerges the leader having not dropped a set. 6-4 6-2 in 91 mins.

Medvedev completely asphyxiated Rublev. More solid on serve and on backhand, that is absolutely lethal. Looking forward to seeing who will get the first place in the group with the Zverev / Medvedev match !

Such I big scare I had seeing Zverev falling that way, for a moment I feared another injury! Go Zverev! You’re a warrior!

Watching Medvedev take apart a red hot Rublev, just goes to show you how difficult it is to get any ball past him. He’s a beast on hardcourts, especially medium to fast surfaces.

All respect to Djokovic for beating Meddy in straight sets at the US open.

I love Med (he’s currently my fave player, owed greatly to his unique, unorthodox and metronomic style), but, in the first set, I felt Rublev looked more dangerous in the rallies. Rublev also missed a couple of really easy chances at crucial times — such as that easy smash in the first set, and losing his footing in the second — and that made a big difference. I should also mention how good Med’s service game was throughout the match. I think he served his way out of trouble a lot in this match and was, in my opinion, the main difference . Great match, from two great players. Let’s go, Meddy!

This group is quite intriguing. I still reckon alcaraz will beat rublev but hell need a miracle to beat medvedev considering his current condition. Medvedev v Zverev could be one of the games of the tournament

nobody’s gonna talk about Med’s return of serve around the net at 3:38? even the ball boy at the net flinched lol. that’s some laser precision! on a service return!

Love watching Daniil. His backhand looks so awkward. He seems to be getting better at the net. Hope he makes it to the finals.

I think that Rublev lacks killer instinct when he plays Meddy. They are too close of friends and I think that he can’t put that to the side when they play.
